yeah it's a old one... Jarch is a really nice guy, even though from what i hear he'll shit rack you if you play him...lol

It's a shame, but these days you've got to inspect the rack with EVERYBODY. I have good friends who were known for clean racks tell me in recent years that Hell yeah, they sh** rack people these days because everybody is doing it and they can't allow someone else that edge. Yup. Back then, Johnny Archer was just a 19 yr old kid starting his professional hall-of-fame worthy career. He was shooting with a Schon cue. Kentucky Jim bought one, probably because Archer shot with one.

You're right about old Jim, but he played a lovely game of straight pool! I'll always appreciate the way he and Bob Lisciotti took their time to help me learn the game. It was under their influence, in my opinion, that I began to really make the transition from ball banger to budding player.
What I really wanted to know, though, is have you heard anything from Kentucky Jim? I've done a couple people searches, but I've never found anything. I was searching Kentucky though. Is Indiana where he was actually from?

P.S.--You're also right about Jim's Schon--it was because of Johnny. I remember that he saved for months to buy that thing. As a matter of fact, it was the first time that I had heard of a Schon (shows you how much I knew!). And guess what I play with now?

I'm pretty sure "Kentucky" Jim Wynters was from Indiana.
At the time, Schon had some not so beautiful designs, IMO, and they just started to transition to much nicer designs. He got his for like $800 or $900. I thought back then (late 80's, early 90's) that he was absolutely nutz to spend that kind of cake for a pool stick., In the same year, I could have bought a nearly new plain Richard Black for less. Hindsight and all
His Schon hit like a dream. A ton? A monster? And I always wanted to buy a Schon because of his cue and how it felt.
