A little birdie just told me that they're sending a bus to p/u any of the players at the World Summit who want to ride over to CBS in the morning. All of the players in the tourney signed a pool table & if I'm not mistaken, it's going to be auctioned off for charity. I actually missed the part where I was told what they were doing with the table because I was laughing so hard at the thought of a pool player being up & ready to go @ 7 am :D :D :D . Anyway, I'm supposed to get a phone call around 6:30 or so in the morning letting me know if they know exactly what show they're going to be on. Of course they could record it and put it on the evening news but I assume if they're making 'em get up that early, that it's going to be on the morning news. I'm going to set up my VCR to record the morning news. Hopefully that's when they'll have it on. If I get a call before 7am I'll make a post on here about it... I have to leave for work no later than 7 :(

True to form...

Not many got up for the show :D :D So far the people that I do know of are Scott Smith, Martin Rimlinger, Frank Alvarez, Brandon Ashcraft, & Tony Robles. I think a couple of more got up for it but not too many. It's going to be on the CBS morning show.

Thanks for the heads-up, Timberly! :)

UPA Reps Martin Rimlinger and Frank Alvarez, Scott Smith the TD, 2004 BCA Open Champion Tony Robles, and one of Detroit's best-kept secrets, Brandon Ashcroft. Not bad for the early morning hours. I imagine the rest of the crew is snoozing, preserving their strength for the big event.

Glued to the TV now and staying tuned. :p

Just caught a quick shot of pool players at 8:10 a.m.
I could recognize. What looked like:
Oliver ortmann?
Ralph Souquet
Scott Smith
Mika Immonen
Thorsten Hohmann

Who was the guy the weather guy talked to? Said "he looked like a pool player"

Not one mention of "pool" during the first hour.

THEN, at 8:00 p.m., EST, they broke away to the weather guy on the terrace, and right there on the railing was the UPA brigade holding a huge banner, about 12-feet long, with the "World Summit of Pool" logo on it, most likely the same one that hangs at the tournament venue site. Kind of funny seeing the pool players being railbirds for a change (LOL). :D

There were about 10 pool people, but I didn't recognize a couple. They showed a brief close-up of Shawn Putnam giggling, and I saw Frank Alvarez, Thorsten Hohmann, Martin Rimlinger, Scott Smith the TD, Ralf Souquet, Carmine Sardo of Sardo Rack, and Mika Immonen.

Then the camera widened out to provide a group shot of all of the UPA Tour Pros and pool people. Then the weather guy takes the mic over to Martin Rimlinger and said, "Take a look at this nice-looking gentlemen," and and Martin got the opportunity to speak a few words.

I recoginized Shawn Putnam as well.
The person who I though was Ortmann was all the way to the right in a blue shirt.

Martin Rimlinger. Accoring to the UPA website, he's one of the UPA Reps: http://upatour.org/staff.asp

8:30 a.m. sighting on the weather terrace

Again, at the weather break on the terrace in front of the CBS building in New York City, they showed a group shot of the UPA brigade.

This time, the weather guy bellows out something to the effect of: "Who's the youngest pool player?"

The camera then zooms in on a face I did not recognize, and the young player didn't speak, but did wave his hand. The weather guy states he's 14 years old.

Couldn't CBS do better than that?

Oh, the weather guy did state, the UPA was donating the proceeds for the sale of a pool table to the Hurricane Relief effort.

You can tell the weather guy is not a pool player.

Is this the same kid featured in a recent BD article that was also recognized by Tiger products & given I think it was over $300 worth of products? If I remember correctly, the kid had always played w/a predator z shaft & shortly after he started using the Tiger x shaft he ran a 3 pack... 1st time ever. If that's him...Kudos to him. He's made if farther than some of the champions in the tourney!

Glad to hear a few more guys were able to get outta bed.... I got a phone call this morning from someone riding on the bus & they said there was no Shawn, Johnny, Rodney, Corey.... just the names I mentioned earlier & then said there were a couple more. I'm glad I recorded it & now know what parts to ffwd to.

If I can find someone that can dub it... I can't & I've already promised it to the person that was gracious & kind enough to call me last night & tell me about it. I'll be giving it to them at the open. Might be able to find an office or something at the hotel that would let us use the VCR real quick. "You know who" probably wants a copy too.... sorry about their luck... they never called me & told me anything... ever... I bet the pool room has a vcr on one of their tv's...

Sounds good to me. We could always take it by Walgreens or someplace to burn it to a few DVDs for "you know who" and us. If you wanted to nice that is :D Maybe just us then! (You'd think he'd of called and said something.)

I'm talking about Brandon Ashcraft. I read that he was mentioned early on, but then he wasn't included in a later posting. I thought maybe he wasn't there after all.

Thanks.

LOL, that's the one I was talking about. I know he was there, I just don't know if you couldn't see him. I didn't see him in the first segment & my tape bit the dust before they were shown again. I think I've gotten the tape to the point that it'll play... I hope(i'm afraid to try it). It figures... I haven't had a vcr eat a tape in I don't know how long & it does it with a tape of someone one national tv, that I promised a copy to.
