Well I am purposely staying home from playing tonight and may get bashed
over this. Seems as if my addictive nature has raised its ugly head and I have
neglected a few things in my life to play pool .To the point of not doing a few
things like work and taking care of other responsibilities that need my attention.
So I thought I would post this and leave it be for a week and see
what kind of response I get .In the mean time I am going to clean my shop,
install my stereo in my van, paint my deck, kick start an ailing business, and
see if I still got enough moxy to get a date or something
Let me lay out a few questions that have come to mind today.
1. Do you neglect other important areas of your life for pool ?
2. Would you enjoy playing ALOT more if the rest of your life was in order ?
3. Do you have a choice in this or are you just completely consumed by
pool ? Cues,Playing,Tournaments, Books,Videos and on and on
4. Do other people in your life not understand why you play and have a
burning desire to be around pool at all times ?
I've been in recovery,12 steps,NA, and have 19 years of continuous clean time
& know alot about addiction and recovery .Addiction does not have to
be to drugs and there are healthy addictions as well. However I know and
can feel when the boat is about to tip and I am over the edge and have
felt this way about pool for a while now. My hopes are that I can get my
act together and find the balance I so badly need and come back refreshed
A few signs of this was that I got so obsessed about wanting to play better
that my game got worse and worse .Also I quit having any fun with it at all
So I am posting this for me and in hopes it may reach someone who is
struggling with the same thing . Also someone who may have been through
it and found BALANCE
