Pool - Reality TV - Starts Now

I don't know Katie but have seen Rebecca play, she's got serious talent. Do you have the names of all the players currently associated with this project?

Katie Moore works at Pool Sharks she would be a decent low/mid level B player as compared to the guy B players here in Vegas.

Rebecca plays good, I'm at the upper/high end of the local Vegas B players and she plays maybe the call 8/wild 8 above my speed.

In today's time... if it's on TV, there's a format/script.

Of course they are scripted and staged. What's more, the successful reality shows are no longer about the "main feature" (pawned items in the case of Pawn Stars). The shows are about the personalities and conflicts.

The original Pawn Stars episodes had 7-8 transactions in 30 minutes and just a little about the personalities. Now it's down to 3-4 transactions and most of the time taken up with conflicts between Rick, Dad, Son and Chumley. It's like a soap opera.

If the producers of Pool Sharks are smart (which I assume they are) the show won't center on pool; it will center on the personalities of, and conflicts between, the players, backers, railbirds, etc. I doubt we'll ever see one entire rack played.

If the show gets picked up, the original players will be replaced one-by-one if they can't act.

Sure it's all scripted to a point, but as to what extent is how genuine it will be. They can line up a guy to bring in a civil war era hand gun to pawn stars, and make sure the cameras are rolling, they will even tell the pawn stars shop this guy is coming. But they won't say "the producer wants you to turn this guy down". So the reality is will they won't they buy the gun.

Or having the cameras roll on a crab fishing boat, and if the crane cable breaks and a steel trap crushes a deck hands leg. It's the unpredictable that gets the ratings. The producer would be a nut to try to edit that outcome out.

Having two female pool sharks get into a money game and then announce they will win, and the two guys they play throw the game and ham it up for the camera will just be transparent. That's entirely scripted, and won't last long. I personally would love to see an unknown come in and wipe the table with them, and see how they react. would they practice harder? Make excuses?

Isn't that why we go watch pool tournaments? It's the unknown outcome that's fascinating.

Keep in mind what they are currently filming in Vegas is a sizzle reel to show networks and sponsors. The show itself may not be as scripted.
