Pool-related Screensavers

Howdy folks,

I've just added seven pool/table billiards screen savers to my web site:

Among them are
Girls & Tables 1 (a set of 33 pictures & graphics of girls, cues and tables that you will never see in real life.)
Girls & Tables 2 (another set of 33 pictures & graphics to place on your computer screen when you aren't using it.)
B&W - artistic post-modern style (21 black and white photographs & designs.)
B&W - old photographs (21 photographs of old timey players, including a couple with Mark Twain.)
Pool balls - artistic pictures 1 (27 interesting and clever presentations of pool balls. Some are great art and several are low art.)
Pool balls - artistic pictures 2 (32 additional interesting and clever pool ball renditions.)
Pool balls 1 through 15 (15 giant size pool balls presented in sequence with animations and swirlies.)

If you use a screen saver on your computer monitor, it can be replaced with a pool-related one. You can download these to a folder, test them out, and install whichever one you like.

Here are the instructions to preview (test) each one before installation.
1. Download to a folder on your computer.
2. Open the folder and right-click the screensaver.
3. To see how it will look, select Test.
4. Click again to stop the action.
5. If you don't like it, delete it and try another one.
6. If you like it, add it to your collection of screensavers. Right-click on the file and click Install.
7. To change to another screensaver, right-click on the desktop and select Properties. Click the Screen saver tab and make necessary modifications, then click OK.

Questions

When I try to run the screensaver it opens up notepad that has a bunch of computer language hyroglifics but no pictures. What have I done wrong?

I assume you are running a Windows machine.

First, right-click on the downloaded file name and select Test. This will activate it for viewing and evaluation.

To install, you will need to right-click and select Install.

After downloading the file to my desktop and I right click the file there is no test. It is the standard options. I used the open file. When it opens it opens in notebookk with the above mentioned problems.

Has his intructions worked for anyone else?
 
Somebody who downloads these files to put on your computer....Please let us know if they work ok....I for one am not going to trust downloading anything from someone I dont know.....no offense allapsand
 
No problem. You can also run these through any anti-virus software to also verify acceptability.

If you have problems testing these, send me an email at: billiardgods@gmail.com and tell me:
Windows version and what right-click options you get. I'll walk you through the process.
 
Here goes a detailed description of what happens for me.

The files that I have downloaded from you are .scr files which I am assuming .scr stands for screensaver. When you right click any of these files there is no option to pick that says "test" as you state there is. The right click options to pick from are your standard windows options listed in order from top down

Open
Scan
Send To
Cut
Copy
Create Shortcut
Delete
Rename
Properties

I see no test in the right click options.

I choose the open option.
A new dialog box opens with a security warning with options to run or cancel.
I choose run.
The file opens in notepad and includes lots of computer jibberish.

Any more suggestions before I give up on this altogether??????

Microsoft Window XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3

The double click option gives me the same dialog box to run or cancel.

I select run and it opens the file in notepad.

Somebody else try this to see if it works.
 
Im not trying it...Hope this works out...this will be nice to have if it does.
 
I was able to install them. If you want to try it out copy the downloaded file to c:\windows\system32\

Right Click a blank area on your desktop and choose properties. Click the screen saver tab, and the screen saver you downloaded should be available in the drop down box. This worked for me on XP v2002 SP3.

I am going to look thru all of them, and let you know what I think.
 
I did a web search on converting windows screen savers to macintosh and couldn't find out any Mac solutions.

The nearest thing I could find to a solution was to run your OS as a Virtual PC. Sorry.

I downloaded to desktop
right click got me the TEST option.

One question... is there a way to speed up through it a bit. They are pretty slow and I honestly don't have the patience to sit to see all the way through it. :o
 
Over time you'll be able to catch all of them. I didn't want them to get boring too quickly. (And if you watch and wait for all of them to display in one sitting - you are wasting valuable table time.)
 
Well it CAN be done, but sometimes it is not worth it. U may need the source code and some knowledge of C++:
You need to learn the drawing and the screensaver API of both Windows and Mac OS X, and then either emulate the Windows API with ones you write yourself, or go through the source you have line-by-line and replace the Windows API with the Mac API.

Or use Juicer and PPS. :) enjoy!
