Pool Room Database

Rooms come and go (most go as of late unfortunately) I doubt that anything exists that would be more accurate than googling. My advice just google and call their phone numbers to see if they're still open.

Im in agreement with you about the Googling,,,,I am however surprised that we dont have such a database located on this website....something where people could add to submit suggestions for deletions etc......it would be a great resource in a lot of ways....

I think that would be a great idea. We can have a subcategory and a thread for every state. The first person or mod would update the first post in each state/thread. We can include information like hours, rates, pros/cons of the room, weekly tourneys and serve to notice us when a room does indeed close.

it would also be great for people traveling too. Can we make this happen?

Not a bad idea if people were willing to put in the work to edit and update it diligently.

Are you trying to put together a mailing list for your book? You may be able to buy a mailing list or maybe something like Billiard Digest will sell you a list. I think today, you can probably do a fine job yourself doing your own research. Just go state by state or maybe give the project to a kid and pay them something to do it.

Nice idea- but MUCH harder to accomplish than it appears.

Just one person per state equals 50 people doing something on a regular basis.

Google is only part of the answer- it still would take hours trying to contact the rooms for accuracy.

We tried a little along these lines, and I know he BCA has also - none are accurate or up to date.

Info changes too fast. iMHO

Much of the information on the net is compiled for phone books. That information is like a year old when the book comes out in the first place. Plus it is almost never updated and hangs around on the net forever. looking for rooms that have active web sites would not be a bad place to start.
 
Four Square... (www.foursquare.com) hang on hear me out, sign up and then check in to the pool halls you frequent and add a few pictures leave comments with things like; hours, how many tables, what sizes, etc. I'm doing it here in WPG I'm sure in no time we could have a fairly accurate list.
