Pool Room Sell Out

Went to play at my local pool room today, well its not that local, 30 minute drive or so. I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in. 39 out of 40 tables in use! Made it 40/40 when I booked a table. Never ever seen that, not even close. For the 6 hours I was there the 40 tables remained in use.

There were no league games or tournaments being held so everyone was paying for their table time. I think its absolutely great to see.

The other great thing was the amount of youngsters playing with their dads. Atleast 10 kids I'd say 10-16 playing. Rarely see young people playing pool and snooker here and it can only be a good thing.

At first I put it down to the new bar maid...but I doubt it. If it is the owners on to a winner! Haha. I think the real reason is most people have time off work for Christmas/ new year and it just goes to show that pool is alive and well if people can find time off work.

When was the last time you saw a sell out pool hall?

I've always preferred it with only 2 or 3 tables going. Too much noise, interference, yelling, screaming, jukebox playing. I'd rather have the whole room in darkness.

It goes in cycles. I have seen it several times. The game we love will make a comeback. You just watch ;)

You spend 300k on tables, then plan to only have a few open at a time...hmm you might start making profit in 80 years.

No wonder pool halls are going broke and shutting down if that's peoples attitude.

I could be wrong but I think he meant that his preference to play pool in a less crowded environment. I doubt he is a room owner based on what he said. No need to get nasty for his comment.

I alternate taking my son and daughter to the pool hall with me just about every time I go during the day. They love to play and are learning more and more each time we go. I teach them pool room etiquette: no running around the tables, don't walk in front of a player when he is down on his shot, if tables are tight together watch behind you before you shoot ( you don't want to accidentially hit someones $1000 cue). Hopefully they will continue to love the game as much as I have throughout the years.

I see it quite a bit where I am, but it's only 14 tables I believe. I've never even been to a hall that has 40 tables.

This man's default is nasty. I've been nothing but nice to him and everyone here, and he has treated me worse than he would a wild animal.

What do you mean? I don't understand. Please explain.

Get off the sob story buddy. My default isn't nasty I just don't tollerate verbal and textual diarrhoea.

You'll tend to see this during holidays. Great to hear. Gotta find a way to get more kids playing.

Been a while. It can be busy during the holiday season, but it's great to see a thread about a 'sell out pool hall' that's not about, you know, the sell out of a pool hall. Thanks for the post!

This place is full regularly, tonight there might have been a 2 - 3 group wait mid evening. It's like that all winter, league every weekday and just busy most weekend evenings.

It is great to see lots of people enjoying a few games of pool.
