I have recently purchased software to run table time etc for my pool room. At this time I will not publicly discuss the source of the software but I will say it has serious flaws. I would like to know what people use that they are happy with and what operating system thier computer has. Our new computer is Windows 7. I am a little concerned that due to current state of our industry, software updates may be behind. If you have software that you are not happy with please email me with details at mark@marksmithcues.com if you are so inclined.

This information is being passed along to save others the grief and lost dollars that I have incurred. I purchased billiard room and POS software from Definitive Synergy (INSIDEPOOL magazine). I tried for a month to get the many issues resolved before I bit the bullet and purchased the Pool House Manager (Timemagic) system. It works flawlessly. INSIDEPOOL will not give refunds, and as I found out today I was unable to to get my money back through VISA since their rules state you must have an invoice, I never recieved one. The software was purchased with a credit card over the phone and downloaded from the internet.

So far I have discussed the facts, now I will vent a little. I find it convienent that INSIDE pool did not send an invoice. Do you think they know the rules on credit card disputes? My opinion is that these folks know exactly what they are doing. Shame on me for not doing better research prior to purchase. Shame on them for selling a piece of crap and refusing to give refunds.

I had heard some not so great reviews on the first system you were using. Not heard any on the timemagic but it's good it's working for you.

I am looking for some bar/food pos and player time tracking software myself if anyone has any suggestions. I found what looks to be some real feature rich pos called pointOS but it dont look like it has table rates and timers for the pool side.

Pool House Manager from Time Magic is the most mature Pool room software available. Built for pool rooms with services, some products, simple food and drink, It was not designed for restaurants and bars that just happen to have some pool tables, to track and control food and liquor costs, if you know what I mean. It does the pool management extremely well and is configurable to manage that aspect just about any way you can imagine. If you want something that keeps track of how many ounces of Crown your bar tenders poured and didn't charge for, it isn't the one. Simple beer sales and soda sales, or even variable price level drinks, snacks and burgers, it will handle. Just don't expect to get accurate liquor or food portions control.

I find the best solution for a full service bar/restaurant that needs liquor , is to separate the functions of pool time management to a piool POS and the liquor food to a sophisticated restaurant/bar POS, then combine the tickets of the customer by paying from one POS to the other to present one bill and credit card charge to the customer.

I have worked with a variety of POS systems and Ican guarantee you that you will be happy with the ease of use and functionality of PHM. As with all POS systems, be sure you have a UPS.
