It's a big place and there are rooms all around. Can you give us more detail on exactly where in Southern California you will be?
Crimes in California.................
Hardtimes in Bellflower, where Efren, Santos, and Alex play as a host of other Filiipinos.
Keep your car in the parking lot.
College Billiards in San Diego.
I think Louis Ulrich plays there.
Never been there.

On Cue Billiards in La Mesa is probably the best room in the San Diego area. They have a really strong Monday night tournament with Louis Ulrich and a host of other good players. As someone mentioned, try to make it to Hard Times in Bellflower. They have a huge Sunday tournament which some strong pros (Oscar Dominguez, Ernesto Dominguez, Santos Sambajon, Morro Paez, Louis Ulrich, Dave Hemmah) play in on a regular basis. Hard Times is my all time favorite pool hall.
San Diego area, but will venture a little ways north for a nice room..... would like to see a couple different ones while there.....
The two most "active" rooms in San Diego are probably On Cue Billiards and College Billiards.
There is not much worth the drive in South Orange County so if you are going to make the drive up here you may as well check out Hard Times, one of the best and certainly the most well known pool hall in our area if for no other reason than to buy a T Shirt, LOL! As someone mentioned, the Sunday tournament draws many top players from the area, especially the first Sunday of the month because it's added money.
How long will you be out here, and what for, pleasure or business? Let us know when you're coming. If I can meet up with you I'd love to play some. Especially with a home boy from Chicago.
