Where Is A Good Place To Play, Practice, In The 270 Dorsett Area In Maryland Heights New To The Area Any Info Greatly Appreciatted!

Anyone in the area would be remiss if they did not make a visit to Mark Wilson's Billiard Bullpen in Collinsville, IL (just across the river). Here are 3 links to threads describing several visits to the Bullpen. There are pictures on the second page of the third link. I'm jealous that you live closer.

If you are staying at the 270 and Dorsett area and you head east on Dorsett, it turns into Midland Blvd. Take Midland to Woodson Rd. It will be a goofy intersection, but the landmark there will be the QT on your left. Turn right on Woodson and Cue n Cushion is on the right side at the top of the hill. They have 12 9ft, 2 3-cushion, 1 5X10 snooker, and one bar table. No alcohol. 1 Diamond that is designated for soley One Pocket.

If you want a beer then just take Woodson North to within 2 blocks of HWY 70.

Airport Billiards on the East side of the street in the last strip mall when traveling North.

9 footers, bar boxes, and a European 3C table.

Thx For The Replies Didnt Like Cue And Cushion That Much May Try Airport Next Thx For The Great Directions Though They Were Perfect

Here's a quick repost of a posting I made a while back...

Pool Rooms in St. Louis
Here's you a quick rundown of the pool halls in St. Louis...and area!

Quinn's in Fairviewheights, Il (owned by Andy Quinn, arguably the best player in the St. Louis area. Several bar tables and few 9-footers.)

Billiard Bullpen, Collinsville, Il (Owned by Mark Wilson, former touring pro, accu-stats commentator, WPBA tournament director and a great instructor.)

The Break, Soget, Il (Owned by Terry Huelsman, The place everyone goes to match up! 9-footers and bar tables.)

Airport Billiards, St. Louis, Il (Was owned by the late Harry Sims...I hear his wife is still running it. I've only been there a couple of times a fewyears ago. The tables were lightening fast, but level.

Just One More/Raiders, St. Peters, Mo (Great Diamond bar tables, lots of league players and a good weekend tournament, One triple shimmed Gold Crown)

Teachers Billiards, St. Peters, Mo (Lot's of bar tables, 4 gold crowns, occasional tournament on Sunday and Monday nights)

Cue and Cushion, Overland, Mo (Pretty much all 9 footers, and a couple of 3-cushion tables. Good clean equipment, and good players...great place to go if you're a serious player and interested in a little action playing just about any game.)

Cuetopia, St. Louis, Mo (Harold's new place...he used to own Billiards on Broadway if you're familiar. Mostly 9-footers and a great place for one pocket action. Good equipment, plenty of elbow room and Harold's a great host.)

Sports Center, St. Louis, Mo (Mostly 9-footers, another one of those rooms the good players go to match up! ;-)

Ride the Rail, St. Louis, Mo (Mostly bar tables, a few 9-footers...home of the annual Pepsi Classic tournament.)

Side Pockets, St. Peters, Mo (Good equipment, slower napped cloth on the bar tables, 4 9 footers, more of a upscale sports bar type environment, really good food, and usually pretty good scenery if you know what I mean! :-)

If you didn't like C&C, then you're *really* not going to like Airport. I hadn't been there in years (since Big Ed owned it) but had to pick up my wife at the airport earlier this year when her flight was delayed an hour, so I stopped in. It was a really hot, humid day and they didn't have the a/c on. The tables looked liked they hadn't been recovered in years. And I had forgotten how huge the pockets were.

Given your location, your best bet is either Teacher's, towards the west, or Harold's place, which is a bit closer to you and to the east. You're more likely to find action (1pocket) at Harold's.

That is a good list jwilliams, and I hope you will forgive the addition as it is not a "serious" pool room but it is a fantastic place.

The SIUE(edwardsville, il just 5min hop from 270) campus has plenty of nice well kept 9-footers, a brand new billiards table and a 5x10 snooker table for only $3 an hour(broken down per-minute i believe rounded to .25) No smoking, there is a cafeteria in same building along with pizza hut for snacks.

They aren't open that late(12am weekends 10pm otherwise), but honestly they keep the tables in pretty good condition and given that I live about 5 minutes away its my place of choice.

Granted you wont find many players with real skill there, but if you are just looking to get some practice time in it is my favorite spot for the price and variety of games.

As much as I love the other rooms, the smokey ones I can't stand for long and others are too far way or too expensive.....

If you have time and don't mind driving, check out Riverbend in Alton. Free pool during the daytime if you buy lunch Monday - Saturday. Sometimes it's slow but most of the time you won't have trouble finding a game with somebody.

Did I play a few racks of 9 ball with you about 2-3 weeks ago, after we were done we were messing around with your jump cue???

You and your friends were playing on the table closest to the door for the bowling alley and I was shooting alone a few tables down.

Just a shot in the dark, I didn't catch the guys name.
