Is this a common problem around pool halls across the nation? Where I play, most of the tables fade one way or another. Sometimes I can see the cue ball weaving left and right before it stops. One particular problem I have is this one table fades to the right. If I shoot a shot down that rail perfect, eventually the table fade will take the ball into the rail and I'll miss the shot. On the other side rail the fade takes the ball toward the center so if you don't hit it firm enough you will miss the shot as it will drift toward away from the corner pocket. I try and compensate by actually playing the fade like a break on the green putting in golf, but that only works sometimes as speed plays a large factor. Also, if I start hitting it too firm to try and take the fade out, it rattles the pocket many times.
How do you guys handle table fade, and is this a real common problem? I might be picking up bad habits now by hitting much firmer than I should be for a given shot. I've also had the cue ball roll to a stop, but at the last second curl behind and object ball and hook me. If the table rolled perfectly true this wouldn't be a problem. To tell you the truth, I haven't played on a truly level table in along time so I have no idea what its doing to my game, or if this is just part of the game.
