If you get one chance, I always say get as big a table as you can. That way, you don't regret it in the future. Sacrificing a bit of space, not always a bad thing!
Awesome! I like the noise going up and down in pitch, too.I have finally completed my "Pool table on rails" build. I still need to recover the rails with the new felt, but I'm very happy with the results.

Well, that's an impressive thing you built already, I can see the noise growing old.In my next iteration, I'm hoping to eliminate the noise completely by replacing the stepper motor with a servo motor. It's a pretty expensive upgrade, so I wanted to make sure I could get it working with a stepper motor first.
I can see the hassle and distraction of having to grab the remote and wait for the table to finish moving both growing old. Hopefully in a year or so he will update us and let us know if it was one of those things that sounded great in theory but where he ultimately wishes he had just gone with the smaller table size that actually fits, or if he is still satisfied after all the newness wears off and still feels it was the best solution. It seems like it would be easier to work around if you mostly just use the table for practice, but if playing a lot against opponents I wonder if it is going to become a real drag in the long run.Well, that's an impressive thing you built already, I can see the noise growing old.

I think a button on each end of the table would be good. You walk to the end, it's too close to the wall, hit the button and the table moves. It does look like your table moves fast enough that you should be able to stay in a rhythm. The remote adds a lot of wow factor when you first show someone but I tend to misplace them. I guess you could keep the remote in your pocket.I can see wanting to add a second remote control for convenience.
When Scott, did his table he thought of many options and finally did the remotes for ease. But two I remember that were possibilities were, a magnetic chalk holder that you twisted. The buttons at either end could be done with two remotes and a little bit of Velcro--which also addresses the question of where to put the remote(s) when I'm not using the table.I think a button on each end of the table would be good.
