Pool table?

I took some consideration in how to say this so it would still get to the point while still expressing some excitement...

We just made an offer on a house and it was accepted!!! Friggin sweet!!...Okay, now that I got that out of my system...

Is there a better time to buy a pool table? I know some places have end of summer sales, or end of year sales or whatever, when is the best time to buy? The closing is July 31st, so obviously I want a little time to settle in before putting in my pool table and never opening another box again because I'm too busy playing, but should I wait 'til the holidays or until next spring? What does the "throbbing brain" (collective smarts of all the AZB members) think?

Congrats Nick, of course I would tell you this tonight when i see you.

As for retailers (which I am sure you know) there is Master Z's (Olhausen), Game Master (mainly Brunswick) and Allied (Kasson) these are the most common dealers in WI.

When I went shopping for my table I ignored all sales pitches. I am sure you know what any table is capable of next to the other....Brunswick uses Brazzilian slate, Olhausen uses Italian. Both will say there's is better but I challenge you the average table consumer to see the difference (other then color). Kassons sales guy will beat this into the ground that Olhausens are shit because they have holes in the center of the slate pieces. Also watch out the Allied guy will try to talk you out of fast cloth and a 9ft table...he did that with my friend John

So know what you want (color and such) and what size...and tell them you want to only spend x amount of $$.

I basically walked into all three places and was looking for the best price and the best Customer service. They all have dealers going, you just have to push for their bottom price. And don't make the same mistake I did...pay the extra for the top quality worsted cloth right away! ;)

But if you're still interested I will part with my table for $1000 includes set up and delivery (no cloth) TIGHT POCKETS!

You should be able to haggel with retails if you want a new table.With the market being down all the stores are just getting by.My choice would be the used market with so many loosing jobs and home there's alot out there.
 
I can tell you that the worst 2 months of the year in the BILLIARD business are usually July and August, and this July and August are probably going to be the lowest in years.

I see you live in Milwaukee. Give Brian Igelski at the Recroom a call and tell him that Rob Montgomery in Lincoln, Nebraska said that you would work out a good deal for him on a table.

Congratulations on your new home. If it were me, I'd keep my eye open in the used pool table listings. You may want to post a thread in the Sale Forum stating your location and interest in a 100 mile radius. I've seen some tremendous bargains on great tables. Take your time and don't jump into anything too quickly. Once you get a feel for what available in the used market and the pricing, and if you don't find anything, then you can shop for a new table. Again, take your time and don't be too hasty. Good luck in your quest.
 
After I read your post I looked in the For Sale Forum. Today there's a listing "Diamonds" in Dayton, Ohio. 9 foot Diamond table, matching light, spectator bench, Aramith Pro Balls for $2500. Not a bad deal. Look for similiar deals a little closer to home.

How much time at the pool hall would you save annually if you had your own table?

How much would your winnings increase annually because of more practice time on your own table?

Calculate Payback Time
Estimated investment in table, cues, balls, light, beer fridge / (hourly table rate X annual hours saved) + Increased Annual Winnings - beer and munchies for all the mooching friends who will turn up = PAYBACK IN YEARS

Suspect that a used table is easy to justify, and a top of the line will stroke your ego.:D:D:D

No offense Scaramouche but Nick holds the golden ticket..HIS WIFE PLAYS...I would be happier then a pig in shit if I lived with someone that loved to play. Nick and his little lady go to the pool hall at least once a week (not including league) and yes he has lots of friends that are over a lot. If I had these opportunities I would be happy as hell with my table at home. And even without these factors I still am happy I own a table....I just never use it....why you ask I have nobody to play with! :shakehead:
