Pool Table

Buying a personal pool table, and have $600 to spend. I know Diamond and Brunswick are the best. But I don't think I will find one for $600.

Olhausen is about the only thing I can find for $500 that is a known brand. Everything else has been Easton, sportcraft. National Billiards company I believe was another.

Any suggestions at that price? I know I'm going to end up refelting and eveyrthing after a month or so, but I want to make sure I get something that will last a little while at least, and when I spend the money on a table mechanic, that it doesn't just fall apart a month later.

That is cheap enough . A BB cost more than that

patience and being ready to pounce

It takes patience and being ready to pounce but I have seen Brunswicks given away and a handful of them for under $250 when somebody was moving or the wife was sick and tired of a table in the way. Of course these things always come along when you aren't looking for them.

My advice is to sit tight and wait on a commercial grade table to come along. Maybe add a few dollars as you go but don't be scared to look at tables at twice what you can afford. Maybe you can trade goods or services or maybe they are tired of the table and take a notion. Never hurts to look and make an offer of what you can give.

A true story, I was hunting high and low for a '57 Chevy. I saw one on the side of a four lane highway near the corner of another four lane but I knew it had been sitting there for years and that dozens of people had bound to have checked on it just in the years I knew of it sitting there. After months of searching I finally stopped and asked after riding by more than a dozen times myself. The owner told me that he had at least several people every week stopping by trying to buy it and it wasn't for sale. That was what I suspected so I wasn't surprised in the least, . . . . until he told me to go get my trailer and haul it off, free!!

You found an Olhausen on your island for $500? If it is in good shape I'd grab it in a heartbeat! Diamond and Brunswick are not necessarilly the best either...

didn't notice where he was at . . .

I didn't notice where he was at. The advice to jump on the Olhausen is probably much better than the advice I gave. I suspect there isn't a huge used table market there.

Ya, being in Hawaii definitely limits my options. Just not as many tables around here, and shipping is prohibitively expensive.

I would wait around longer, but my wife is threatening to spend the money that I have if I don't buy a table soon.

The Olhausen I looked at was in decent shape, it has a broken pocket and needs new felt, but other than that it's in good shape. Maybe needs a new finish, but that's a simple sand and finish if the felt is off. . .BTW this is referring to a 9' X 4.5' table.

Jump all over that son. I've been keeping my eye on Craigslist for a quality used table at an excellent price for a few months now. I haven't seen anything near that deal.

Gonna go look at it this weekend. . .it will just be sitting in the second car slot of my garage for a week or so til I get my '69 cougar fixed this coming weekend. Once that's fixed and shipped back to the mainland, I'll have the whole garage to turn into my personal pool room. :) Gonna put an A/C and dehumidifier out there to keep it climate controlled for my cues and table.
