Assuming they are talking about 1.7-million gross revenue to the regional economy, I'd guess they make a calculation of something like, if each player and their travel buddy spends a little over $500 (food, transportation, lodging, etc...) each over the 4 days, and then add in a few hundred grand for the revenue from the tournament setup, and revenue from the tournament crew, they'd hit 1.7 mil.

It's just a crude example of how they come up with numbers. That may be way optimistic, but that's the case every time they do a revenue calculation for other sports as well. What someone may have forgotten to tell them was that so many pool players are damn cheap, and it'll take a pry-bar to get a dollar out of their wallet

The tournament was great, us BreakRAK boys had a booth there & the people were great.

I see that Texas is having a big State Tournament this year too.

I would like to see all the states form State Pool Associations, have quarterly, semi annual & annual tournaments. It would be fun for the Players, good for the State associations & the Game.
