as the title suggests i am wanting to go to watch any tournament in reno nevada. Are there any left in 2023? I checked this website however did not see any and thought that it is a possibility it might not be listed. Thanks.

I don't remember hearing of any tournaments in Reno in a long time.
That would be my suggestion as well. Sacramento.Hard times isn't that far from Reno and they do some big events worth watching
I believe you're thinking of the old Hilton that became the Grand Sierra. The USBTC was hosted there a few times before they fizzled away. I agree it's a great venue for a big tournament! It's a shame there is nothing left in Reno pool tournaments, what a perfect town to stage a major event. The old MGM (now called The High Sierra I believe ) would be the perfect venue for a major US event, hint hint Emily! For about 20 or more years there was the bi-annual Sands Regency classic that will forever be missed by those who can remember it. The beauty of Reno unlike Las Vegas is that it is affordable for the average person to go there. Let's hope that someday something will happen there again!
Yeah I think we're talking about the same place. It originally opened as the MGM, where they featured the famous show 'Hello Hollywood Hello', then it may have become the Hilton, and now is The Grand Sierra, or High Sierra but we're talking about the same place just outside of town.I believe you're thinking of the old Hilton that became the Grand Sierra. Just checked, that is the place they have a great website. The place is huge, with theater and bowling alley on the bottom floors with tons of convention rooms and square footage.I believe you're thinking of the old Hilton that became the Grand Sierra. Yep! I lived in North Lake Tahoe for about a decade and Reno was where I played most of my pool. I used to love the driving range at the Hilton. Just a giant reservoir with floating island greens.Just checked, that is the place they have a great website. Does anyone know why they quit having the Reno Open? ThxWhat level of tournament were you interested in? Weekly, league city championship, regional, major pro?

The grand sierra would be a great place to have the Reno Open again. Does anyone know why the sands stopped having it years ago? The twice-a-year USPPA league tournaments with 128 or more amateur players guaranteed a lot of money for the Sands and helped fund the pro event. Gene Stary, the owner of the USPPA, died and the USPPA died out shortly after. I'm not certain that the decline of the league caused the pro event to go away, but it was close to the same time. The grand sierra would be a great place to have the Reno Open again. Bob, if I'm not mistaken that USPPA twice a year thing at the Sands had something like 300 players, I remember playing in one, one of the years it took place. The twice-a-year USPPA league tournaments with 128 or more amateur players guaranteed a lot of money for the Sands and helped fund the pro event.
