Calling the networks

Good luck on calling the networks for permission. I have tried this with ABC and ESPN and have never gotten a call answered yet. They always send me to a voice mailbox that takes my message and no one ever gets back with me.

In addition, in the video screening room section we have categorized 600+ video clips from youtube and google video, including matches, instruction, old footage, film scenes, tv commercials, etc.

(We have just invented a great way to browse shot selection. Use the little "Shot Browser" in the top left corner of every page to "flip through shots currently available in the library. )

As we all know, there have been many interesting discussion everywhere on the net, including the one you are reading right now. They always disappeared with in a week, and it's not possible to pin them up. This is the main reason we started the CueTable Library ? an attempt to archive all shots ever draw on either WeiTable or CueTable. So far we have about 1600+ of public and private layouts in the entire library area.

Please note the initial library idea really came from Mr. John Goalby, who spent endless time in setting up a database called "Omniscium Shot Archive" between 2001 to 2003, when RSB was still in its prime at the time. Many thanks to John even though he is not playing much these days. :)

Try telling them it's for a hot new reality show where 12 pool players live in a house together and one of them marries a rock star while eating nothing but rice and fashioning home-made garments. That should get you a call-back.

Another thing to do is make a parody of it (say put one of the players in a clown outfit or add a funny soundtrack), that offers some protection against the copyright law.

If you really want to find someone to license some pool video for you, look at the credits at the end of the matches. Find a nice important sounding title and ask for them instead of something like "legal" or "distribution". If you come up with a name you are looking for, most of the switchboard people will try harder to find them, or put you in touch with an actuall person. If they don't work there you can ask who is now handeling that area, and you can get a current name.

There are hackers that use this type of thing as "social networking" to find out information about systems, but also would work to get you in touch with a person.

Is it already saved in a digital format? On your hard drive or on a DVD or CD?

Or on a DV Tape? If so then I am sure we can walk you through the process to get them uploaded somewhere online.

If it is still in analog format - on tape - then it needs to be broadcast to a digital recorder. Your PC for example is a digital recorder but you need to be able to input the video into your pc so it can convert the analog to digital. One way to this is with a TV card or TV-Box that that you put between your output (cable box, tv set, vcr) and your input (PC). Then fire up the software that comes with it and go to it. Make sure that the software supports recording the incoming stream and also that you have plenty of hard drive space.
