Pool, we are making it too damned complicated!

Technically speaking... all we really NEED are three things. 1) strike the cueball in the right spot 2) at the right speed 3) on the right line. That is it and they are pretty easy tasks to learn imo if you set your goal to master them and put in the time.


I think that just about everyone of the fundamentals you have mentioned can be compromised and still achieve results.

Practice mastering shots that give you trouble. You have a shot mastered when you 1) pocket the ball 2) the cue ball goes on the right line after pocketing the ball 2) the cueball rests at the right location due to the speed it was traveling.

If you dont have a shot down then ask yourself what one or more of the three technical aspects needs adjusted?
With practice like this the shots will become automatic and you will see the same shots over and over again with just minor variations.

Yes, many make it hard. Past a point it's all in your head, literally. Free your mind & your ass & your game will follow
 
That list you posted Straightpool99, was pretty complicated in itself.

What people are doing wrong is that they're trying to work on all the fundamentals at the same time.

You have to do it a little piece at a time or you'll drive yourself nuts.
