Can someone help me understand how you can get a poolcomps account with real money but you can't get an online poker account? Now i understand that the pool site is tournements only. But on the poker sites offer tournements also. Has poolcomps found a loophole?:confused: Now i have'nt tried to get a poker account in about 3 weeks but im sure the ban is still in effect. Any ideas?

Poker = mostly luck.
Pool = skill.

Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but not sure.

Poker is mostly luck? Sir, it is obvious to me you know little about poker.

I know there is a TON of skill in poker, but it is all depends on the cards.

You are suggesting there is a luck factor in poker. This is true. Are you suggesting there isn't a luck factor in pool?

I think, the fundamental difference between pool and poker is the amount of training it takes to become competent. Pool has a lot of physical demands that can take years, even decades to master. Especially because of the internet, poker is a skill-game where one can attain a level of competence in a relatively short amount of time. In my opinion, professional poker can be attained within a year of online training.

your not paying to enter the comps

your paying a monthly fee of $7.50 to get a service that teaches you how to play pool but also happens to include entering weekly comps that include a $10,000

This is correct, it has nothing to do with luck. poolcomps changed their format from paying various stakes in each tournament to monthly subscription, therefore its not technically gambling. ;)

I second that. You are paying a subscription fee, and for that fee you get benefits. One of those benefits happen to be a cash tournament every week ( real cash ). The beauty of this is you can't lose more than $7:50 per month.

I lost my holiday pay through party poker lol.

By definition it is mostly luck. If you take myself and Dolly, Chan, Unger when he was alive... anyone... and we play one hand all in it is 100% luck. If we met up and played one hand all in every day of the year 365 different times, in the long run it would converge toward 50/50. There are ZERO prerequisite skills to winning a hand of poker. If two people go all in before the hands are dealt (ignoring draw poker where you have to make a decision) there is zero influence either player has over the outcome.

If I met Earl or Efren or Archer and we played one game of some sort of equal offense, or we played some sort of horse game, or any game, once a day for a year, it would not converge to 50/50. If we both threw all of our money on the table and played one shot each, or one game, whatever, the outcome is always influenced by the player.

Being able to win at poker as a career or winning in the long run requires the utmost skill (look at Moneymaker). The skill in making correct decisions with incomplete information, making correct decisions because on experience, making correct decisions based on reads, being able to keep people from reading you...being able to trap and avoid being trapped...minimizing losses...those are all skills that separate long time winners from break evens or lossers. But at its core, it is mostly luck.
