Poolplayers as charities?

My father owns a semi-pro football team. And he incorporated it as a 5013c non-profit. The reason he did this is so he could get local stores, etc. to donate money in return for advertising in the programs and at the stadium. And let me tell you, businesses, in general, are not shy about turning loose the cash when it comes to donating. They need to get rid of a certain amount for writeoffs, and as long as you are a legit entity they will throw it your way. I'm wondering if any poolplayers have thought of doing this? I know the top guys have sponsors and all, but I'm not kidding when I say he does pretty well getting local places to give a few hundred here and there. Just multiply that and you can have a good supplemental income. He does. 10K+ per 3-month season. I know pool has a generally bad rep., but possibly local bars, sporting goods stores, etc. would be amenable. I'm just spitballing here trying to think of some ways so that our national treasures like Earl, etc. get less of the shaft as they get older. There should also be an investment wing of a future undivided pro organization, but that's a discussion for another time. Does this sound feasible to anyone or am I delusional? All you really need for this is to be relatively street smart and a good salesman, which I'm guessing most pros already are.

I have worked in marketing most of my life, this is actually a good idea. If the presentation is put together correctly and the structure was there to manage the program, it could work.
