I will be in Washington D.C. for a couple of days. Any suggestions regarding poolrooms located there?

Are you into gambling or sociable play,
Is Galaxay still open?

And Naj, more importantly there used to be a REALLY cool place up here downtown called Bedrock. They closed awhile back but supposedly there is another bedrock open down ur way, is that still there and what do u think of it. Also to be clear, Bedrock was never really a players room but it was N upscale night of fun for the player and the ladies- lots of good fun. Also seemed to keep a goof clientele if ya know what im saying. Great place I miss it alot. So what's up NAJ!?

Will you be in the City of D.C. or in the surrounding area. Are you looking for 9 footers or are you open to Bar Boxes? How far out of the city are you willing to travel?

Pretty slim pickings inside DC these days. In the city, the only place I'd recommend is Bedrock in Adams Morgan--cool place, tables are straight, not much action.

A bit outside of DC is High Cue (Columbia Pike and George Mason, in Arlington). Further out is Cue Club in Annandale. Further out still are First Break in Sterling and Breakers in Herndon.

First Break has the best odds of action, and the most strong players.

Fast Eddie's Springfield used to be a good place to go for action, but I think it's now a Revolution Darts & Billiards. No idea what it's like now.

Aside from these, there are bars that have pool tables, like CarPool in Arlington.

Good luck!

Good job Cory, you summed it all up. Fasteddies Springfield, i am told still have action, i have not been there since two years due to the smoke inside..i miss it big time!

I was actually just in DC and played at 'rocket bar' on 7th near the stadium. Pretty happening area with a lot of night life options in walking distance on the strip. Parking is kind of rough, but I definitely had a good weekend on 7th. I think it is 10$ an hour, about half a dozen 8 ft tables with big pockets/kinda fast felt. It gets kind of cramped in there on a weekend though, not too many players. Anyways, cheers

The absolute best room in the DC area is Quball 1 Llc on Central avenue in Capitol Heights, Maryland. It's about a 25 minute drive from downtown DC. The address is 7945 Central avenue. You'll be wasting your time going anywhere else.

I would advise any out of towner to be vigilant if visiting Prince George's County, MD. It has some rough areas.

My advice is to stick with Cory's recommendation; stay in DC or go to VA.

The Central avenue room is 100 percent safe. The room is littered with very knowledgeable one pocket players. The tables are in excellent condition. Everyone there is very friendly and welcoming. Go there, you won't regret it.

Historically though, that is a tough area, compared to any other 495 communities, you gotta acknowledge.

I've always meant to go to Central Ave. but haven't made it. I probably wouldn't stop for gas out there, but visiting the pool hall would be fine from everything I've ever heard.

Rocket Bar and Continental are good places, but they're definitely in the "bars that happen to have pool tables" category.

But in the city, just take Uber to Bedrock. Although I said there's not much action there, you'll sometimes find a very good player or two there (e.g., Ilir, or a few others) or some soft action (e.g., me).

I'm interested in this as well. I'll be in Alexandria for the next 4 months.

Where are the tournaments? Where's the action room? First Break looks like it's a good hour away...I don't mind driving but is there anything closer?

Come out to First Break on Thursday nights, I'll buy you a beer.

The reality here is that where you are staying will have a huge impact on where you will want to go play pool. If you are in downtown DC you most likely won't want to go to First Break, unless you are cool with travel times around (or over) an hour.

If you are staying in one of the outer communities you will not want to travel into DC to play at Bedrock,, for example.

I live in DC and wanted to check out Breakers,,, I swear it took me forever to get there.

I have not played at Quball 1 LLC, and I want to check it out. The neighborhood does not concern me one bit.... People are just people.

Quick update for any other out of towners that might want to check out the seen. I've been in the DC area for about a little over a month now, and I've been to most of the rooms in this thread.

Tournaments are in short supply but the best I've seen are Thursday nights at First Break and Saturday nights at Triple 9's. Attendance has been down at First Break, but if you show up, you should be able to find a cheap game. Triple 9's has some goofy tables, but good players are there every Saturday for the tourney...I basically ran out a set on a guy in the tournament and he immediately asked to gamble.

Quball 1 is the spot if you want to play some 1-hole. Seriously, don't go anywhere else for 1-pocket.

Don't waste your time going to Waldorf for the Wednesday tournament. The tables are horrible and there are only 2. Why anyone would run a tournament on two tables is beyond me. A decent player should win the tournament pretty handily and claim the $50 pot though.

Big Daddy's is closed indefinitely. I've only been to Top Hat once but the tables were really nice. The place was dead though when I was there. I'd like to know what day is best to go to Top Hat if Anyone is willing to share.
