Porper Big Shaver/Cut-rite trimmer question

Will a Porper Big Shaver and or the Cut-rite trimmer cut thru a Kamui black tip with the clear polycarbonate base on it? I want to be sure it will cut thru the PC base before I shell out the dough for it. Will the cut right trimmer do it as well? Is the Big Shaver better for this purpose when installing a new tip and removing the overhang?

Thanks,

Good question. All the Porper Hand Tipping tools are excellent.

Have to be careful with the Big Shaver. It does the job nicely but you have to pay attention to what you are doing. It does have a large blade on it, so I am going to say, Yes, you can.

But, you would still have to be diligent about it. Been a long time since I sold mine, but believe that you can adjust them, or at least, control the amount of tip that you put in, if you know what I mean. If you can, I would be inclined to adjust it so I am shaving the leather first, and come back to the bottom of the tip when all is done.

With the Mushroom Grazer, which is designed to do Mushrooms, but many people also use it to trim the tips, it is a finer razor blade. It is adjustable so you can put the tip in, and not worry about grazing or cutting the ferrule. With that, it might be a toughy. You might make it work, but dull the blade quicker. Depends on how tough the material that the pad is made from.

Best that I can tell you from what I can remember.
