porper lathe

2nd attempt for what ever reason i posted in the test section. Model A porper. What do most cuemaker use there porper for? Could some people send me some pics of ther compound, and taper bar attackement. Would it be a wise decission to use this as a taper machine only. People tell me that you can only turn so much off a shaft or butt at any one time. Then you have to wait 30 days and take a little more off. continue the process untill done. If this is true Why would anyone want a cnc shaft machine. One would think by the time you miss with the pc multiplied my the 6 minutes it takes to spin the shaft minus a manual set up plus the time of glorafing your work the manual process would win hands down. Plus the expense facter of a cnc,

You CAN NOT use this lathe ,as is, with a taper bar. The lathe tool only has a travel(from left to right), of about 3". It was built as a REPAIR lathe. You can replace tips, ferrules, tenons, wraps, drill & tap the hole for joint screws, replace & make joint collars, butt caps & drill & tap the hole for weight bolts ( under the bumper). You can also sand, paint & use the cut-off tool to make joint stitch rings. It is a good repair lathe, but won't cut shafts. You made a very good buy. E-mail me if you have any questions about how to run it...JER

Porper would charge between $1500.00 and $2000.00 to convert it to a B lathe. I'll still offer to buy it off you if you find you can't use it.

The Model "A" has a larger hole in the headstock also. That's a plus...JER
