I just got the lathe and the x-axis wheel works fine, but the y-axis, when you are running the wheel clockwise or up direction it runs just fine, but when you try to go down, then the screw on the wheel unscrews and loosens up, I don't see any set screws and the hole that the wheel slides over is Round and doesn't have any flat side or anything to lock down to?? How do I tighten the wheel so when it is going counter-clockwise that the screw and wheel don't loosen up. When it loosens then the screw does not move the worm anymore, until I tighten up the center allen bolt, but if I run it in counterclock wise then the screw loosens again?? Help??

Also, does anyone have a breakdown or cleaning schematic and/or parts listings for the Model B-C?? And does anyone have a Repair DVD for the Model B-C? Thanks

So get a new screw for it, maybe yours is stripped. Or stop cranking up against the headstock where you will loosen that screw. Or put a dab of threadlocker on there after tightening it down.

I just wanted to make sure, something wasnt missing?

I would have thought it would have a set-screw or a non-round hole so it would have something to bite against. It probably, just needs some light threadlocker. I will try that. I was not going up against the headstock, I would just be moving it up and down on the y-axis and the wheel would come loose, the screw would get loose and back off.

Thanks for the input, ideologist.

There's a plate that attaches to the front, that has a pin lock for the wheel.sounds like you are missing that piece.

Seems you may have too much gunk between the carriage & ways. Lube everything up so it operates smoothly and that should prevent that screw from loosening.

I didn't even think of that. If the rails are that gross that the wipers get jammed and knock that big machine screw loose, yeesh!
