I was wondering if anyone has replaced the standard turret tool post on the Porper Model B with a quick change type tool post? What size/type are you using and was it a simple installation? I would like to simplify changing from one tool to another. I've also thought of getting a few more of the standard turret toolposts and use them to swap out the different tools. The problem is it might be more cost effective to just change the tool post althogether to an Aloris type.

I found that my Model B worked a lot better when I threw away tool post that came with it and replaced it. Everything was more solid. I replaced mine with an Aloris type: Phase II - Stock Number 250=111. Try this link at MSC: http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXNO=1794006&PMT4NO=33624757. It has worked fine for over 13 years.

I made a steel spacer that is 2.5 x 2.5 x .666 for it to fit properly.

Good Cuemaking,
