Ole Jalapus will be in Portland next Friday through Tuesday. Any recommendations for pool rooms? I won't have a cue with me, but I'll play off the wall. Just there to hang out with buddies, check out the micro brewies and what not. Would like to fit in some pool though.

Cheers....

Classics..on the east side..122nd and Powell if you're looking for action. Warning on the neighborhood though...there have been shootings in that area.

Gotta admit, Portland has become too weird for me. I stay away for a variety of reasons. Traffic being #1. Driving up there is a nightmare.

35-40 minutes south of Portlamd and worth the drive:

All Anniversary and Centennial tables.

Where will you ever see that again ?

Cue ball is great...and safe. Free parking out back in the gravel lot. Most Thursday afternoons, you can find Cindy & I at the back table. Be sure to check out the Don Malarkey tributes on the west wall of the main room. Don & Jim, the owner are buddies. Don used to hang there...(Don Malarkey...Band of Brothers fame).

In Portland proper...more of a fern bar atmosphere than hard core pool, popular with the afternoon downtown crowd is Rialto...nice Gold crowns when my honorary nephew & I were there for a couple of hours...he then took me to classics where he and Glenn Atwell played a couple of $50 sets...Atwell winning one set, Matt the other. This was some years back. Haven't been to Portland since.

Sams is good - decent tables, good food and full bar

Classics has more action, but microwave food and fridge beers

Rialto has food and drink, but not sure of the likelihood of finding anyone that can play

If you don't mind diamond boxes, there are plenty of places around for those. There's a good Saturday tournament at Pub 181 and a Sunday night one at River Roadhouse, both of which would have action to follow.

Thanks guys. I always think in terms of safety first, lol. I'll see what our itinerary is and if I get free, I'll see if some azbers want to meet up.

Best,

JL
