We have a restaurant, bar and 16 pool tables so i'm looking for something i can use for all three. i would like to integrate a palm pilot for the wait staff if at all possible any suggestions?

i use dolphin systems and it works well for us. we have 21 tables, full bar, and a kitchen. takes a little time to learn the details but overall am very happy.

Phm Is It

Hi I just wanted to say we run a 25 table room full bar and wait staff. TimeMagic Pool House Manager is by far the best thing out there. It will be something you can expand with your business. The guy who makes the program is at your beck and call. You get his personal phone number and all.
We have had it for 5 years now. We have went through around two or three upgrades which are nearly free as the software progressed. Just hate to see you out there wasting your time trying things. I promise its the best. Guys name is Mike. Try it! Download the demo and see what you think. It works really well if you have touch screen monitors. Hope this helps Our credit cards even run through it.

I have worked with Poolhouse Manager from Time Magic and cannot give it high enough recommendations. I currently work with some bar only and restaurant bar packages as well that are geared for more drink and food management, so I can tell you the differences between full blown restaurant/bar management POS and PHM. PHM is the absolute tops for customizing your timekeeping and various other pool room functions, but is lacking in the areas of drink mix inventory control, electronic beverage tracking, integration with video surveillance, food portioning, tip (gratutity)reporting, and other aspects of restaurant/bar management. You have to weigh how much flexibility in inventory control and cost reporting you require for the food and beverage side of the business.

There are a couple full blown restaurant/bar packages out there that also have table time keeping for pool tables and darts, but they do not have the flexibility in timekeeping management that PHM has. They are for your new style high profile restaurant bars that have pool tables like Cool River and the Bull & Bush in Denver. Cool River makes their money off their table cloth dining experience and Yuppie crowd bar scene. PHM would not work for them. If you aren't doing anything more than a grill with fixed menu sandwiches, a bar that does not need to keep track of drink composition for mixed drinks, or provide a bartender mixology lookup for making drinks, then by all means don't hesitate to go with Time Magic. IMO, by far the best Billiards POS out there.

If you need more restaurant/bar management control, contact me and I will be happy to turn you on to some that have pool table time keeping features as well as everything else for bar and restaurant. The price will go up substantially.

Also... PHM is EZ to train your staff on.

Is there any system that runs on mac computers?
Not sure if you have an intel based Mac or not, but here are some things to look into. http://www.codeweavers.com/ is getting rave reviews for providing Windows XP vrtualization to MACs so you can run Windows software. You could do a try before buy with it and the demo for PHM. Definitely worth a shot if you want the best POS out there for pool room management.
