I was rooting through a stack of books that were given to me about 12 yrs. ago by Frank "Banana's" Rodriguez and found this book.

Frank owned "Banana's Billiards" in San Antonio until he passed away. He left me his book collection as for the final year of his life, I went to his nursing home and read to him and listened to his war stories of his time as a road player every day. He is featured in Robin's two one pocket books.

The book is a red hard back edition with very nice illustrations written in English, Spanish and Japanese.

Does anyone in this forum have any information on this book?

That's a rare and collectible book. It took me years to find a copy and then lost it. I'll give you $200 for it. Please let me know if you are interested.

As mentioned, the book is fairly hard to find because it is out of print. I've seen it sell for between $50 and $300.

It shows general ideas and specific shots for playing position at 3-cushion. I think it requires at least an intermediate level of play to be useful to the player -- maybe 0.6 average? -- although some of the ideas can be used by weaker players.

I've played 3C maybe a dozen times in my life for the simple reason the closest 3C table is 100 miles from where I live.

I absolutely love the game and watch it every chance I get on the internet but, Bob, you are right. This book is meant for someone with a much higher skill level than I.

I will part ways with it to someone who will appreciate it.

The condition of the book concerns me. The cover is in excellent condition but looking through it, a few of the pages have come loose from the binding as if the glue has crystallized. I'm sure this will effect its value.

I'm not much for doing business over the internet as I have been burned a couple of times in the past.

What I will do is bring the book with me to Vegas for the BCAPL Nationals in May. I will be there the last 5 days for the team event.

If anyone is interested, I will have it on hand while I am there. It will also give any potential buyer a chance to check its condition before purchasing.

Just shoot me a PM and we'll line up a time to meet.

Stone ... Here a post on the same book I sold on AZ... http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=247451 also if you do a search on AZBilliards Forum there enough info for you to decide your price. Finale Eddie Robin isa member of this Forum.

BTW ..price I sold for was $280.00 and it was owed by Bob Ameen at one time.

You stated : looking through it, a few of the pages have come loose from the binding as if the glue has crystallized. I'm sure this will effect its value.

This I understood was a problem due to the type of glue use by the. Publishing Co.

Wow, how cool was that...I would have thrown in to own a National Champion's copy of Position Play. Bob won the title in the early 70's right?

As for the book, Eddie told me it was important, in terms of getting the most out of his instructional, to read the first four chapters carefully and sequentially before moving on to the diagrams later in the book. This sounds like common sense but I thought I would pass it along. ER was adamant to make that point to me.

I came by a second copy and sold it at the SBE for $300. Enjoy your copy. As others have pointed out, it is rare.
