Possibly WTB White Diamond tips

the damage happens when jumping, the down force on the ball produces the cracks. The measels ball were direct from aramith so i don't think they are defective or counterfeit.
All i know is what i have experienced, that is the hard tips phenolic/white diamond/g-10 etc... Do damage

you can't lump the wd in with the phenolic and the g-10 tips. It's no where near that hardness.

you continue to enjoy your bad information......

I just want the guy that asked the original question to know that the wd, is nowhere near as hard as the other tips you mentioned.

I will, and it is not information it is actual field tested truth. I never said the White Diamond was as hard as Phenolic or G-10, I stated that it damages the cue ball as the others do.

the wd tips aren't that hard. If you had issues, i'm still gonna say that it was an issue with the ball, not the tip. I have guys that have been using the wd tips on my tight table for years, and haven't had any cb issues.

It almost seems to be that some are just not in favor of J/B tips that is not leather. Anything other than leather, they say would damage the CB. I am in no form saying bradly is lying, but I would have to say that you must be unlucky, but glad you found another tip that you like because other than what you have said, I have never heard of WD damaging a CB. I have been breaking with my Panther J/B with the phenolic tip and ferrule combo on my measle, and have no damage at all on my ball, and my brother just got a G-10 and Ivorine-4 ferrule combo on a J&J J/b from Varney and we have yet to chip a ball with it, but time will tell with that combo. So if WD is not as hard as phenolic, I don;t know how it could damage something that is harder than it (CB and OB). I have been wanting to get a WD tip put on my Panther J/B for a while, just haven't found someone competent enough to put a tip on for me in my area. From what I have read, the WD controls the CB and holds chalk like leather but has the ability like a phenolic and doesn't mushroom like a leather tip. I don't care how much tip burnish you use on a leather tip, breaking with it and jumping with a leather tip is going to cause it to mushroom no matter what. JMHO.

Do you have some evidence from these field tests?

yes damaged cue balls, that were hit using only the white diamond tip (6 different measels balls)

you waited until you damaged 6 cb's before stopping? Sounds odd to me. And all you did was break/jump using wd tips with these 6 cb's?

I broke about 30 times last night using a wd tip, and a measles ball, just to see what happened, and like i expected, there is no damage done to the measles. Now, i don't break as big as hillbilly bryant, but i hit em pretty good.

P.s. Did all those measels balls come from aramith at the same time, in the same order?

I've been using them quite awhile. I think they are the best tip out there for jumping. When applying english and control to the shot.

White Diamonds are great. I have a Omen J/B cue with G-10 Ferrule and WD tip. The wd is a good break tip however the real magic is with jumpshots.

thanks for the information marcus and others.

the wd's work best when they are cut down low. So, when you have the tip installed have the cue guy cut the tip down to about half height. They've always had more power at this height (imo)

What kind of shape are you using? Gonna put a WD on the Tasc J/B?

The 6 balls were given up for experimentation, and I stated before the damage happens when jumping not breaking. The down force created is what does the damage. And yes the balls came from aramith at the same time same order. If you are not experiencing damage I say continue to use WD's, but as for me I switched to the Gamma and the Samsara J/B tips
