I was wondering! How many players or cue collectors, use or have in their collection, masse cue and by what cuemaker?
Here a picture of my masse cue, built by Dieckman.
Or check http://www.cuemaker.com/whatizzmasse.htm and check out Bob Watson Masse Cue. You will need to click on x area. 3 different pictures.

Where are, all the masse cues from our artistic pool players? Or are masse cue collectable?

I have two masse cues. The shaft is from one that I carry in my case. The shaft is 29" long and the butt (not in the picture) made of Ziricote with Maple Burl butt cap fits in the long pocket of my case. The butt in the picture is approx 22" long and made of Cocobolo with a Maple Burl butt cap. The shaft for the butt (not pictured) is about 22" long.

Nice looking masse Cues.
Did you built the masse cues or Who was the cuemaker?

I made them. I'll try to get pics of both of them soon. The pics I take almost always turn out blurry or something, so I'm waiting for someone else to take the pics for me.

I think I've read everything Dieckman has online at least twice. I have printed out some of his articles or paragraphs and like to read over them every once in while.

The shaft straightness thing was interesting, but I think if a shaft rolls straight, it's straight enough to shoot with. I think testing a shaft for a .005 wobble is too much. It's not as bad, but kind of like dropping a cue two stories onto it's tip to give it an impact test. I'd rather test a shaft or cue by playing a game or two with it, than putting an indicator on it.:-)

Bob, does your Dieckman masse cue have two reverse points in the handle area?

Here's the pic of my masse cues, plus two other cues I've been working on.

The top masse cue is made to fit in a cue case. The shaft is 29" long and the butt is short enough to fit in the long pocket of the case. It has a 14mm tip and is light enough to be within BCA equipment regulations.

The second from the top is about 44" long and weighs 29.5 ounces, with a 15mm tip.

The third and fourth down are mine.

Gene, yes There two 7" reverse points Or The section [direction of stroke], you don't see. Are three pieces inlay in the handle a spear, straight line 1/4" wide, then the diamond [which is shown] . See http://www.cuemaker.com/199906b1long.JPG the fourth cue butt show the portion not shown on the masse. Don't mean to change the subject - if you remember the "The Player" OK. regional billiard magazine, that where the cuemaker poem was published in.
I've saw a couple of your cues on ebay. Nice.

I can't get the link to work. I loaded the page (www.cuemaker.com) and ran a search also, with no luck at finding 199906b1long.JPG. Would you check it and see if it works for you?

Thanks,
Gene

Now, that's too funny. I clicked on the link in my message and it worked.

I'm glad you were able to click the site . It in archive gallery 10. Gene the sawteeth or jagged point on your butt plate area - is that a crown cue trade mark or your design? My Masse is 47 1/4" length, length with rubber bump 47 5/8", 3/8"x10 s/s pin, 13 3/4 mm tip, carom taper, 20 3/4 ozs.

The sawtooth or crown design is a Crown Cue trademark and it is my own design. I have put it on all the cues I've made, except one. All of the masse cues I've made have been 41 to 44 inches long and have a 3/8-10 SS pin. I don't think I've made one lighter than 23 ozs.

Gene, outstanding website. When I first view your granddaughter cue, I thought it might of been another masse' cue. If you see Connie William or Jerry Swift, say Hi. Who use your masse'?

Thank you for the compliment on the website.

I don't think any pro or name players shoot with any of the masse cues I've made.

We started taking my Granddaughter to the pool hall once a week. When she got old enough to hold a cue, we let her shoot some balls. We haven't been taking her out to shoot lately, but she gets to shoot some on the table we have at home. She has to be helped or at least closely supervised, but we started doing that before she could walk. It's about time for me to start on a bigger cue for her. By the time I get it finished, she'll be ready for it.

I was invited to post pics of my Dieckman here but I don't have any handy. I'll try to get some up this weekend if time permits. I'm not sure how good of a view of it you get in my most recent video but you can at least see what it's capable of doing.

I'm interested to know if any of you other masse cue owners have video of your shots. I'm always looking for new ideas for my show. This is a good thread.
