The cue is at Barry's shop right now. He is cleaning and pressing the original wrap. He is also going to retaper the 13.20 mm shafts and retip the same with Le Pro's -- Gus' and Barry's tip of choice. The veneers are black, blue, black and white, which dates the cue to the mid 80's. Barry informed me just yesterday that he does not recall seeing the blue veneer in my cue in any other Gus cue. Barry spun all three pieces on his lathe. The butt is dead straight. The shafts have a slight wobble, but are straight within normal tolerances, especially considering the fact that they are approximately 25 years old. Barry is hopeful that the retaper will take some of the slight wobble out of the shafts. Overall, the cue is in 95% original condition. I will be posting photos of the cue as soon as I get it from Barry, hopefully later this week. If you like original Gus cues, you will love this one!

I cannot wait to see the pictures of this one as well.

Hi Myron:

Hopefully I will get the cue from Barry by the end of this week and be in a position to take and post photos of the cue this weekend. I have received several PM's from known serious buyers of Gus cues. I will not publish my firm price for this cue because that will remain a secret between me and the purchaser. The last Gus hoppe cue I had sold for more than $9,900.00, and it was not in original condition. This cue is bigger because it still is original -- original wrap (being cleaned and pressed by Barry) and original finish. It is rare to see 2 fat Gus shafts. Best to you and yours.

Hi Myron:

The last Gus hoppe cue I had sold for more than $9,900.00, and it was not in original condition.
If it is the one you had with 4 shafts, I still remember the cue very well.
Still have the pictures you sent my way and that was a pretty cue especially after a brief visit to see Barry.
Hope all is well for you and the family.

Barry shipped the cue to me yesterday. I will have it today. Barry rates the cue at 98% original condition. He retapered the shafts and got virtually all the little wobble that was in them out. He says the shafts roll great. Both shafts are 4.5 oz. and mic out at 13.18 mm. Barry told me that I would be "hard pressed" to find another Gus in original condition in better shape than my Gus hoppe. That couple with the fact that Barry does not recall seeing another Gus with the blue veneer my cue has makes this cue a home run.

I saw this cue in the shop. It is beautiful. The blue veneer is a darker blue and the look is very clean. Barry did a stellar job with the wrap; it looks new and feels oh so good. Somebody is going to get a prize cue here.
