Oscar is gonna have his paws full on this one, I do believe.

I agree, but tournament performance is much different than competing in a large money match. This match-up is in Oscar's wheelhouse. Not to mention the match in taking place in Oscar's pool hall (Hard Times Billiards) on his tournament table (9' Pro Cut Diamond) that he plays on nearly every day.

Either way, I believe it will be a fairly close and entertaining match.

Why in the world are you using Facebook to do a PPV live stream?
Good question.

We obviously have several PPV hosting options, but Facebook is currently waiving all fees through the end of August. This means for every $19.99 purchase, we don't have to pay the $6.00 fee. Other hosting services charge a similar fee per PPV purchase (depending on video stream quality and other factors). Each hosting service has it's pros and cons. NONE of them are perfect by any means.

We are currently the only live streamer (that I'm aware of) that gives 80% of ALL REVENUE directly to the players on the stream. Our books are open to the players and they can see exactly how much we bring in for each event. No more secrets between streamers and players. FULL TRANSPARENCY!

By avoiding the fee for this event, this is a MASSIVE increase in cash which actually gets directly into the players pockets.

On a side note, we also give 80% of ALL sponsor advertising revenue DIRECTLY TO THE PLAYERS.

That is quite a hefty accusation against all the other PPV streamers in the pool world.

Even though the picture says $40,000, in the interest of FULL TRANSPARENCY, can you tell us who is putting up the money for both players?

No.

My opinion is some pro players haven't been compensated fairly for their performances on PPV live streams. I'm trying to do my part to provide a quality stage for them to compete and for viewers to enjoy and watch the entertainment at a reasonable cost. Frankly, I'm humbled and honored to have the opportunity.

I sleep well knowing when pro players appear on my PPV stream, they make the vast majority of the money. Not me.

Full transparency to me means my books are open to the players competing on the PPV stream. They don't have to take my word for the amount of revenue I receive. Instead, they see it with their own eyes and together we calculate 80%. This is the way I do business.

If you like this business model and you support the players competing in the match, then I kindly ask you to purchase and support the PPV stream.

Either way, thank you very much for your support.

I think you missed the point.

People paying for the stream would like to know if what they're watching is a real big-money session or just another PPV money grab.

You also implied that all the other PPV streamers in the pool world are cheating the players.

Those are your words, not mine.

Frankly, I don't know who (if anyone) is backing the players. I didn't ask. The fact is Oscar has a SOLID reputation for his integrity and honesty. He's one of the most upfront, candid and fair people I've ever met.

When he tells me they are playing for $40,000 in the middle, that's all I need to know.

If you want more information about the details of their wager, feel free to ask him.

I'm excited to be running commentary on this one. What makes it a great match is there are edges on both sides. One guy has the fire power, the other has the home court/moving/gambling background. Generally I bet on the better striker to overcome those other factors, but I've seen it go the other way. The point is I think there are interesting imbalances that will make it fun to watch. I also like that they are both good enough to play elite level pool, but also on tough equipment human enough to have play after the break mean more than usual.

As for Aaron's pool stream, I am big fan. Aaron is one of those guys that has made big personal sacrifices to try to deliver quality streams, many of which have been free. He has bought a lot of equipment, worked many days until late hours in the morning, and his only thought is on how to make it better for the players and fans.

Pool fans have reason to be cynical and have every right to ask questions. I'm not asking anyone to throw their support behind Aaron blindly. I just ask they give him the benefit of the doubt that he is what he says he is and show some appreciation and respect for the heart he puts in. I'm not dismissing the question about who's posting the money. It may not be realistic to know if they players are being backed, but I do think it's important the authenticity of a match isn't counterfeited due to PPV money. At some point though you can only do what you can do as a promoter. If players are set on gaming the system we can't police everything. All you can do is set up the incentives as best you can. Aaron has done that and we are in for a heck of a match. I can't wait until kick off!!!

Only 1 more week until this event!! Purchase your PPV pass today!

Exciting news!!! Both players have agreed to wear wireless heart rate monitors during the event for your entertainment! Their heart rates will be displayed on the screen and updated in real time!
We also have a radar gun on the table and will clock break speeds!

Aaron, a few question:
  1. What is the cloth ?
  2. What are the pocket sizes on the Diamond ?
  3. Rack your own ?
  4. Template or wooden rack ?
  5. Can the non-racker check the rack ?
  6. If no other ball is pocketed, and the 10 ball is made on a combo or carom, is it spotted immediately and does the player continue to shoot ?
  7. Break anywhere behind the head string?
  8. Alternate breaks ?
  9. Fouls on all balls?

Great questions, thanks!

Cloth is made by Predator and it's tournament blue in color. It plays a touch faster than Simonis 860, but slightly slower than Simonis 860HR.
Table is a 9' Diamond with 4.5 inch pro cut pockets.
Predator Arcos II Balls
Rack your own
Template rack
Non-racker can check rack
No early 10 balls. Ball would be spotted immediately after pocketed and player continues shooting
Break anywhere behind head string
Winner break
3 foul rule in effect
Cue ball fouls

This event is scheduled to start 4 hours from now, with free streaming today and ppv on Days 2 and 3.

Stream was so perfect for me that I donated $25. Out of the 500+ viewers only two or three people chatted about a lag. My wifi didn't lag once. Really smart commentary and beautiful camera work.
