PPV Live Streaming vs. Free Live Streaming

There seems to be movement toward more PPV live streaming, at least in the pool world.

It's probably a good thing but the PPV Live Streamers are going to have to provide value for the dollar.

The free live streaming has been a great thing for viewers but the live streamers have been suffering greatly.

It looks like the number of viewers of live streaming pool events is on the upswing. I think more needs to be done to bring NEW VIEWERS to the pool live streaming events whether they are PPV or FREE.

I've always hoped the Live Streaming would become a permanent part of pool because I think it can broaden the appeal of pool to many who can't or don't make it to the tournaments and that is good for pool.

If the PPV Live Streamers want to see their venue succeed, they are going to have to continue to push for excellence in their PPV events, increasing viewing quality, additional cameras, unique camera angles/shots, improving commentary, AND MORE INFORMATION. By more information, I think the viewers actually want to know more about what is going on behind the scenes as well as what's going on in other matches. A "data runner" needs to be part of the PPV and FREE live streaming events to keep the attention of the viewer.

Hopefully, this move toward PPV live streaming will infuse some needed cash into the pockets of the live streamers and they will continue to improve the quality of their product.

I think the PPV streamers have been doing exactly as you have suggested above. Over the last year or two most, if not all, of the major streamers and video producers have updated to HD cameras, multiple views, and continue to use quality announcers. I don't know what a "data runner" is, so can't comment on that one, but overall, these guys are going in the right direction.

The free streams of no-namers with no commentary don't even get my attention, but the streams of high profile players using good announcers earn my money every time.

I dont mind paying for PPV Events. I may have not missed a TAR Stream yet. The one thing I can really appreciate that they do is, Let you know what you are purchasing. Accustats does a good job of letting you know the times and what matches are coming up as well. I cant stand paying for a stream and have to guess who is playing, is it winners or losers side? Is the quality the same as Tar and Acccustats? There are a lot of streamers doing a very good job. But when you start charging, it is like anything else. You need to get what you may for. If you are charging, you should let people know what you are offering match wise.
