Practice practice practice

Sunday funday 10.29.23
The Northern Ireland finals has Trump vs uh Who? Wakelin gets close but miss on key ball. Ouch! Hope that doesn't leave a mark. 1-0 Trump.
Gives a good background on a Cold morning. Brrrrrr.
In search of Precision. It's humbling seeing the Precision that snooker requires. Judd's eye pattern is of interest to me. As a player that has made the transition, I have to wonder if Judd's missed shots are reflection of changed or changing.

Cold means, keep it simple and start small.

Cold starts are critical. So the red stripe 11 is target for station 1. Go

Now 2 rails to the dirt color 6.

The 10 second timer gave time for picture 2.
The Setting of the Cue uh recreation. (notice the white adjacent the pad). Little bugger rolled off just as I hit the button. 🤷‍♂️ still good therapy.
Finding the balance.
Now to try to emulate the control being put on display by Trump and Wakelin.

Lefty opens with 4 points to surge to the lead 12-10.
Uh oh Right shoots a blank.
Finger warming while typing 🤷‍♂️
Blankety blank Lefty says but scores first next attempt. 10 serving 16.
Lefty closed station 2 with a 21-15 lead.
Now 3 to the dirt stripe 14 on the King pad. Lefty picks this 3. Wonder if it's possible.....

With a 9 "Today is Mine", crows Lefty. An interesting study in center ball. My method always starts centered. 🤷‍♂️ That gives a larger range and some times a Little more on is what it takes.

The recommended warmups are before serious shooting exercises.

The first is to practice moving at the table.

Second is to get used to being on the rail

Third is to practice seeing with both sides of my eyes.

I'm uh, Excuse me. This is My sandbox. If you wish to play, please respond to my inquiry. As It is you seem to think you are building a sandcastle. To me it's just making dust. Okie Dokie?

Oh I see now. You are using this thread for Practice. Well Done! Well the effort part. The presentation is not user friendly. It needs work.
If you want your presentation to be useful or respected......start with a justication you know just in case you want to who the Recommender is.
I hesitate to get into my credentials and qualifications as at my age, I am sure I have bragged enough. You post under an aliass.
At least open with credits.
Thanks for the Memories. And the chuckle s. I recall the D player giving a lesson to a novice. He was teaching a masse. Tea He.
So uh can I call you Skippy? Would you do me the favor of a test of the Kicks Like A Mule Challenge? You know give it an hour and give it a grade. Then do it for an hour a day for a week and give yourself a grade.

Sunday is definitely funday. Actually get the

Morning is the Mule. Afternoon is my version of Stephen Hendry's line up. Evening is 3 ball or 8 ball or 9 ball or visitors choice.....for quarters. 😉

Greg, do you remember the post where you did a write up on the Kicks Like A Mule Challenge? Kind of an overview of how to go about it. I recall seeing it somewhere in this thread and I sort of remember the rules. I'd like to try the challenge and like seeing what you come up with but I can't seem to remember everything. I meant to bookmark it but I must have forgot to do so.

If you happen to remember I'd sure appreciate it. :)

I was just considering putting it all in an update. I figure the Challenge has been evolving. So I will. (y)

Kicks Like A Mule Challenge
The ball set:
3 cue balls and 3 object balls. I use stripes for cue balls if necessary.
The Alien pads:
1 launch pad, mine is yellow.
3 target pads, with one getting a center hole. 2 and a half inches point to point works for me.

The game:
I play left vs right alternate shot. Kicking first one rail, one handed. Then 2 rails using a Mosconi like stance and bridge. The final shot is 3 or more rails to the king ball with my chin on the cue.(my best game)
The deal:
I use various ways to strive for random locations of the pads. Currently I hold them up to the center of the light and drop them. I move any near the rail inward to give at least 6" from the rail. Once all 4 pads are located, the launch pad gets the 3 cue balls. Each target pad gets an object ball with the highest number going on the King pad.

The scoring method awards a point for each rail on a hit. Where the balls rest awards points.
3 for either ball in a hole and the King hole worth 5
2 for touching the pad
1 for over the pad
and 3 for kissing balls. So 10 would be the Maximum on station 1.
1st is one handed one rail kick to either of the 3 point balls. Make sure the pad is turned towards the cue balls' incoming direction.
I play a race to 10 points alternate shot for each station. With a shot of 4 points required to close station 1. Then the second cueball must travel 2 or more rails to the target ball on the remaining 3 point pad. At station 2, I use the stance I got from Mosconi. Since there are 2 rail points I require a 5 point shot to close the second target. Then 3 or more rails to the King ball using my best chin on the cue stance. 6 points seems like a good requirement to close the final pad as it has a 5 point hole along with the 3 point holes.

Stephen Hendry gets a Paris cue didn't seem to be appropriate to link until I watched it. ☺
When he shows Stephen how to put on a tip I felt validated as it matches my method of tip installation right down to scrape with a razor knife to get a good flat ferrule.

10.30.23 the deal o the day.

20231030_074122.jpg

In the beginning:Well I select the purple 4. Based on the favorite 2 rails to the 3 ball for station 2.

Be Here Now:
The Routine built from the ground up;
The thought process....half the game is 80 percent mental. Make the plan always starts with choice by the trailing hand. The Challenge posed by the Kick to the 4...uh took a little longer. It's a cold start.
The process:
Find the line and do a deep squat (fitness) dropping eye to rail height to find the micro tune.
Step into the shot. Nope, nope rise back to attention or parade rest. Square stance and ready to step. Examine the tip. At parade rest it's right there. My habit has the chalk in the other hand. Touch the tip ever so lightly to even the color of the makeup with the paper following to grade the finish.shrug
More than a weeks worth there. /\

Due to the extreme physical therapy going on with the left side...rules revision was hit it to a rail is allowed so Lefty immediately hit a 3 after the photo snapped.
