pre made blanks

Ken I agree with your thought process but since I wouldn't want to lose out on the work I would estimate what I would charge if I were building the cue and then double it. To put it into some perspective it would be like going to your pool room for free pool and then asking if you can bring your food and drinks.

Huh?! You're doing less work, with less material cost into it...and yet you're gonna charge double to a customer who already has $300-$500 (or more) into the blank already?!! Glad certain ACA members don't treat their respected customers the same. Penalizing someone for wanting to use a Davis blank (and the history therein) seems a bit askew.

The main reason most people will commission a blank, is because they are wanting something very specific, that is perhaps not available to them otherwise through a chosen maker....but they want that maker's 'magic' on that cue.

FYI...a quality FS blank ain't cheap...it can easily be half or better the cost of a completed cue, sans the added doo-dads like inlays and exotic wraps and such. The more exotic the wood used in the blank, the higher the price of it climbs.

The reality is, a cue maker has the option of just saying 'no'. Pretty simple word, actually...being monosyllabic and all. And there are those who do...and that's okay, because there are others who don't. Some don't mind working with a pre-made full splice blank, and others do. The reality is, there aren't enough makers doing their own FS blanks to go around to the demand that is currently the market.
