Pre-Match routine

Some of us have set habbits pre-game, some don't. Making sure to eat a nice meal or no food at all before. Coffee during the match or not. Always the same brand of beer, lucky sock, things like that. If you have something like that, what's yours?

I have a tourney tonight right after work, and before I used to go right there from work, without stopping at the house. Last couple of times I stopped to change out of my work clothing, eat a bit, then head down to the room. Made me feel more refreshed so when the last few matches came around 11-12 at night I was not half-asleep. So I have a new routine for Wed. nights.
 
For a local tournament, I just make sure to get a good nights rest the night before. For out of town tourneys, I try to get there a day ahead, then go to the place to play on the tables a bit that night, and get to bed at a decent time.

For all tourneys I will do a little meditation before I walk in to get myself ready, and I always make sure to have enough water to make it through the tournament day to keep me hydrated. If it is a long tournament, I may take a small snack or 2 to keep my stomach from growling, hunger can be distracting.
 
The sleep thing hasn't ever really affected me. I've been to a few tournaments where I've actually dozed between matches and had a friend wake me when I'm called. (honest & loyal friend are always good to have)

Other than that, I have one particular mixed CD that I listen to on the way to the tournament that puts me in the mood. I always dress pretty much the same, keeps me comfortable.

Normally I eat a small snack around before and then eat afterwards.
 
There used to be a friday night pro-am tourney at a pool hall near my office that me and a friend of mine started going to. Since they didnt open the tables up for practice (so nice, they had a section of tables just for tournaments) until 6pm, we decided to go for dinner first. He got off work a little earlier than I, so he went to the mall first, picked up a new pair of running shoes, that came with a free tshirt (Converse). He threw it on so he wasnt wearing his work clothes.

So at dinner, I got a sprite, he decided on the same. Long story short, this process got repeated every friday. Only sprite at dinner, only sprite at the pool hall. He also wore his new converse shoes, and new tshirt every week. Then we noticed everyone there was wearing pretty much the same thing every friday.

No, pool players arent too superstitious!
 
1 hour cardio workout the same morning, big deli sandwich with lots of greens a couple hours before... possibly pasta instead, brain-age or big-brain academy on my DS immediately before (not a lot though) as well as boroque classical, plenty of water during the day, and small amounts of water during the match/tournament.
 
I like to have some food on my stomach before I play a match. Then, right before I play I gotta make sure I have a nice, tall Crown and Coke ;) !!!

Here's my pre-match routine:

Walk in... pay my entry fee... maybe hit a few balls... maybe not...
Wait till my match is called...

Play all my matches with the following philosophy:

"You miss... I win,"

"I miss... you win,"

I usually miss less than my opponent.
