I've hit with, and liked, the Predator, but heard great things about the Jacoby as well. For those of you who hit with both, which one would you suggest I buy?

For me the Jacoby is vastly better. No contest. Both are great for longer distance jumps where you use a regular stroke. Maybe the Predator has a slight edge here. But for close up jumps, particularly using the dart method, there is no comparison. The Jacoby is miles better. I'd buy the Jacoby in a heartbeat. I did! Another great choice is Hanshew. Very comparable performance to Jacoby.

Hope this helps,

This helps a lot! Thanks for the feedback.

I've jumped with Predator Air 2, and I've owned the Short Jacoby and the Longer Jacoby.

I much prefer the Air 2. I think it's much better at underhand jump shots vs dart jumping.

Jacoby is much better at dart stroking.

95% of my jump shots are underhand style so I prefer the air 2.

The Jacoby is good at underhanded, but dart method is where it truly shines.

Uhm if you want to get into the physical qualities of both of them.

Notable qualities in no particular order.

The Air 2 has a thicker shaft, while the Jacoby is a much thinner taper.

However the Jacoby feels heavier and the shaft wood feels much denser.

The Jacoby's weight is heavily pushed towards the front end because of the metal ferrule and denser shaft (not necessarily a bad thing at all)

The air 2 is still relatively front weighted but the weight feels more evenly distributed.

Even though the air 2 is fatter throughout, it still feels lighter, while still feeling much stiffer.

The Jacoby seems to whip away from the shot if you try to put to much effort into it, but when you don't over muscle it, you get muuuch more pop for less effort.

In short the Jacoby feels a bit thin, but dense and heavy and you get a lot of extra pop.

The predator Air feels wider throughout, but is lighter and stiffer, and the pop you get seems to be more honestly related to the amount of force you put into it.

I'd say the Jacoby wins because it's better at very close jumps and is fine at longer jumps.

I prefer the Air 2 because medium to longer jumps seem to be the majority of the jumps I need to make most often, and the air 2 does them more comfortably.

But when there's a really close jump, I find myself looking for someone's Jacoby but my odds of making those are pretty bad anyways.

Hope that helps.

This is helpful. I feel like most of my jump shots would be of the medium to long distance variety. Usually if the balls are too close I'm looking for a way to kick out of it rather than jump.

Trying not to make things complicated, but I've now also been directed toward the Lucasi Hybrid Air Hog 2. Anyone have one of those? Longer total length (3-piece), uniloc at both joints. https://www.seyberts.com/jump-cues/lucasi-air-hog-2-three-piece-jump-cue/
