Predator Air?

The Predator Air is by far the best, and easiest to use, jump cue I've ever owned or tried. I highly recommend that and the BK2 to break with. I would never part with either of mine.

Which predator case do you have, and how do you like it sorry this is kind of off topic but i was also looking at the predator sport cases.

Sorry, I've been hospital bound and missed this post.

Do you have Facebook? I have pictures there. It's the leather one that they don't make any more.

My personal opinion is that break jump cues are a compromise.

They either break well and jump poor
Jump well and break poor, or
do both mediocre.

The thing is that what Predator did with the BK2 is to make a low squirt break cue. This just flat makes sense to me. LD means you will hit the front ball square more often, Period! It's not the 1 out of 10 breaks where you hit it perfect, it's the 9 out of 10 that you don't hit perfect where the LD makes all the difference.

My first impressions of the Predator Air were poor. I didn't like it and it took too much effort to jump. I tried a friend's out this year at VF and it seemed better, but still wouldn't be my jump cue of choice. For most of my matches, I just use the jump portion of the X-breaker. Otherwise, I have a few jump cues around for my trick shots. I know a few other trick shot guys didn't like the Predator Air either, but there's a couple that do.

One thing I can say is that the Air does NOT require a lot of effort to use. Quite the opposite, actually.

My next buy is going to be a Predator Air jump cue, or a jump/break cue, can anyone give me a review of the Predator Air, I want to wait on getting a jump/break if I can because I want to get a BK2 eventually but its just not in my finances right now, because I just bought my Predator playing cue. But I am open to the idea if there is a jump/break that performs very well as both.

So what are the likes or dislikes about the Predator Air?

I have an Omen "Grey Ghost" Jump Break. In my opinion there is no other cue on the market that breaks and jumps as well as this cue. Pete Ohmen's current model of this cue is called the "Hoppy Howitzer" (I think).

I have not tried the Predator Air jump cue, but I do have the BK2. I think the best break/jump cue out there has got to be the Sniper II. Explosive breaks and jumps great.

i have a sniper II and i also like the way it breaks. i had mine taken down to a 12.8 cuz i was used to a bk2 and it comes a fat 14mm stock. the shaft is still super stiff though. it took a whole oz off of the cue so i need to make it a little heavier for myself. but i dont jump with it becuase i have a predator air.

the predator is the best jump cue out there hands down. i can jump one handed left and right handed, short jumps, long jumps. with accuracy....not too accurate with the left hand one hand though. Ive jumped behind the back easily too. im 6' so that helps. ive tried alot of jump cues, even a searing that was about 2' long. but i got yelled at by some old guy for trying it during the tourney. but it was searing cmon.... you may have to adjust a little if your used to pounding the ball to get it to jump. the cue is practically cheating. ill chop off my pinky before i get rid of mine.

bk2 is awesome as well but i would sell that before my pinky gets chopped. sniper 2 is cheaper and does the job and is 2nd place only to the bk2. predator air has no competition.

Ohmen jump breaks are great. But unfortunately they are quite useless for short jumps. Too long too heavy. And there is not point using a jump break and still need to carry a jump cue IMO.

when can i see these break shafts from ob....i love my ob1 glad i switched from predator and can say that im playing my most consistant now. may not be the shaft but im happy i made the change. can u start a thread with a couple pics and tell us about it....sorry for being off topic.

you have your work cut out if u think your gonna replace my predator air though....:o)

Love Predator cues. The BK2 breaks awesome, but im definately not in love with the predator air. I think it jumps horrible, just my opinion. I have a lucasi jump cue and i have yet to find anything else that comes close. Been playing with predator shafts for years and i was really expecting more out of the air.

Personally I think the Pred Air is the biggest shit ever made by Predator.
I have not made one jump with my cue, so I sold it. I think the biggest problem was the wight, to light for me.

Now I use the Poison j/b, much easier! So I would recomend that for a j/b cue.

I have yet to find a cue that breaks better and I can jump a full ball easily from a diamond's distance without removing the handle. With the handle off balls about the distance of a dollar bill are no problem. Anything closer than that I am kicking anyway...after all the whole point is to not give up ball in hand correct?

I loved the predator air but I recentely bought a Tiger X Ultra Jump break shaft for the air. Since, I have never made more jump shots. I used all kinds of jump cues, Mezz Air, Bungee, Lucasi, Cuetec JB, but never pocketed as many balls with accuracy like I am with the Tiger Ultra shaft on the predator air jump cue (I know I am kinda crazy). Just got the Ice Breaker so I don't know if the jump cue butt has anthing to do with how I jump. I never really liked the graphite shaft/fiber ferrule combo on the predator air.

I have both a Predator BK2 break cue and a Predator Air Jump Cue. The only thing I dislike about either one is the price. They're both great cues, but Predator product are very expensive compared to other similar products. Predator makes damn good cues IMO, but they are overpriced. You could get a good custom cue for the price that you pay for a lot of the Predator cues.

I personally like having 1 cue specifically for breaking and 1 specifically for jumping. I think you get better quality that way, even though the BK2 does jump very well as a full length cue when jump cues aren't allowed.

The Predator Air is very nice because it's 3 piece. For most jump shots, you leave it at 47" (full length) and it's real easy to jump balls. For short jump shots you unscrew the butt end to 40" and it's pretty easy to dart stroke over a ball.

I also find that I can hit the object ball more accurately with the Predator Air than I could with other jump cues because the cue ball doesn't squirt right or left like it did with other jump cues I used.

I highly recommend both the Predator BK2 and the Predator Air cues.

APA Gene,

Actually, the whole point in many cases is to make the ball and run out!

I think far too often, when we jump, we are just trying to keep from giving up ball in hand, which is a defensive move.

What Predator has done with the Air is to give players the accuracy to actually make balls or play safe more often. They are my competitor, so I don't post this lightly. The Air is an excellent jump cue. It is low Squirt, which is not found in any other jump cues I have tried, which makes it easier to make the object ball. Let's face it, when you are jumping, it is easy to miss the center of the cue ball. Most jump cues Squirt the cue ball too much to be consistently accurate.
