I worked out with the Predator BK2 at Derby City today & was surprised to learn that it had a phenolic tip.

It was much easier to chalk & to control than other phenolics I have experienced.

H as there been a technological advance in the phenolic or is it a particular variety of phenolic that would be available to put on another cue?

I for myself use atm a pre-pressed extremly hard leather-tip on my break-cue. The only other tip i recommend (from my subjective expiriences and practice-test) is the white diamond. Reallly good, holds chalk well and in my opinion very easy to control.

I am not really sure about what the original installed Tip on a BK2 Breaker. I played with a BK2 just 2 days ago-and it worked well. Didn t seem to me that there was a phenolic tip installed. maybe the owner re-installed something else.

I prefer more control on the break instead of gettin 5 mph more on the break :)

the bk2 i have had a pretty standard linen phenolic tip. i didn't find it to hold chalk well after awhile. i think the canvas phenolic holds chalk butter than the linen. i changed by bk2 to leather after awhile.

The BK2 tip is a hybrid with a penolic joined to a carbon fiber pad.... Many hours of RD were involved in the development of the tip and it is not just standard linen phenolic. IF you actually rough it up you will notice that it seems to have more fiber in it than most phenolics used as break tip/ferrule combos......

I had a regular phenolic installed ontop of the carbon fiber pad on my BK2 2 years ago because I was in a hurry... Now that I know better I just wait until I see Blackburn at the tournaments.......
