Predator Cues and Balance Point

As I compare my 5K3 with other cues, I'm beginning to get the impression that my cue is "butt heavy." I like the feel of cues that appear to have the weight or balance point more forward. Is it sound reasoning to expect that cues, whose weight/balance point are more forward, facilitate shotmaking - particularly draws and force follows?

Predator try to balance their cues at 18 inches from the butt.
Of course if you are going to remove the weight bolt or rplace it with a lighter bolt then the balance point will move forward. Note that not all cues come with a weight bolt.
Sometimes when you buy a cue for a dealer and ask for a certain weight they'll just remove/add/replace the weight bolt of a cue....

I believe that most production cues are balanced at 18 inches from the butt end when leaving the factory.

The balance point only changes how the cue "feel" for you and most likely it won't influence the playability of the cue.
Keep in mind that players of different heights will grip the same cue in different grip spots along the butt which will change how the cue feel (balance wise) for each other and yet it is the same cue with the same characteristic and same playability.

Thank you for those insights. I'm realizing, as well, that I need to weigh the cue since I bought it used and am only assuming it is 19 oz. I didn't realize that a lighter bolt would move the weight forward. Thanks again for that info.

I played with a friend last week and he just got a 19 ounce Sneaky Pete cue with nylon wrap from Predator for $400+. He said that you can adjust the weights on these cues.

I don't think he adjusted the weight and the balance point was 19.5 inches. The cue played REALLY REALLY nice. If I had to buy a factory made cue, this is what I would get.
