anyone out there replaced a predator ferule ? I have a couple that need replaced because gauged badly. Were can I get a replacement ferule.

You cant get them unless you are a certified repair center for Predator.
You can make you own ferrules but then you void any warranty you have with Predator cues.
You can go to the Predator website and see if there is a repair center close to you.
I am qualified through Predator for that repair or you could contact KJ here on AZ as he is a repair center also for Predator.

David,
Thank you for the mention.

To the OP,
David is correct in that there would be warranty issues if someone other than an authorized
Predator repair-person were to perform this task.
However, if you are not concerned with a warranty, then there are many talented people who
could do this for you. The problem here though is, the new ferrules. Predator uses proprietary mtrl.
The design of the ferrule itself can be duplicated if the person knows what they're doing.
If not, they could ruin the shaft.
Predator authorized repair people have the knowledge & experience to perform this task properly
and have the correct ferrules.
I'm guessing that you paid good money for your shafts.
Cutting corners to save a few bucks could prove to be costly.
Contact David at D&D or Seyberts and we'll get you back in the game.

predator ferrule wanted for purchase

I do repairs replace ferrules tips refinish ect..
Just wanted to purchase a predator ferrule toinstall for a friend that ruined his

will anyone sell me one and how much????

If you are wanting to do the repairs yourself then you will most likely need to make the ferrule yourself.
As Predator will not sell you their ferrules.
If you have a lathe, drill bits and a boring bar and patience you should have no problem making them.
Choose the correct material and you should have no problems.
Choose the wrong material and you may be purchasing a new shat when the ferrule explodes and takes the tenon or the shaft with it.
Good luck in your venture.

What a great way to answer the question with out actually answering the question.

You sound arrogant.

Just my personal observation....................

You should talk to your friend or customer and tell him that any warranty he has with Predator will be void after you replace the ferrule.

Kim,

JMO, but I don't see where David was being arrogant.
Had the person asking the question about purchasing a Predator ferrule actually taken the time to contact
Predator, they would have been told that they are not available to the general public.
That includes most cue-makers as well. No, David's statement doesn't fit the definition of arrogance.
Arrogance would be me saying "I have Predator ferrules of every size, shape and description and I ain't
selling one to anybody." This is true BTW.
I have the greatest job in the world and I make great money.
Putting that in jeopardy for the sake of a few bucks for the cost of a ferrule seems kinda silly doesn't it?

I do Predator ferrule work also, per my agreement with Predator as does every other authorized repair person, we are not allowed to sell or give away their ferrules.

ok - ok - I get the picture no one can (or will) part with a ferrule - how much does one have to pay to have a authorized repair center install one ?

Please answer if your aloud to.

thanks

Please excuse my ignorance, but is there something special about Predator ferrules?

Without asking what they're made of, are they actually made of a unique material?

Another thing I don't know, are Predator shafts the ones that are bored out at the tip end?

Thanks, and please go easy on me, I'm just curious.

OK, now we're talking. I am allowed.
Predator themselves has/had a statement about it costing $45 which includes return s/h.
However, if it's a warranty issue, all you pay is s/h both ways.
Since gouges aren't covered by warranty you might need a 'deal'.
Contact Rick at Seyberts and let's see if we can help you.

"is there something special about Predator ferrules?"

Yes, they have a unique design that is an integral part of the construction of the shaft.

"Without asking what they're made of, are they actually made of a unique material?"

Yes, it's proprietary mtrl. and I don't know what it is though I've heard the word Maxlite used on occasion.

"are Predator shafts the ones that are bored out at the tip end?"

Yup, that would be the Predator. They have a patent on it and will go to great lengths to enforce it.
Actually, there are several patents associated with the shafts. It's worth protecting.
IMO, Predator shafts are the greatest advancement in shaft technology since the leather tip.
You are welcome to call me bias but I can play any shaft made and choose Predator.
So do about 1/2 the Pros.

Thanks, appreciate the reply.

I did not know you could patent a hole in wood though :D

Do any other manufacturers produce a shaft that is bored at the front? Or 'protect 'their ferrules in the same way?

To the best of my knowledge, there are at least two other brands that use a hollow front
section but both of those brands have the hollow the entire length of the shaft.
OB Cues has two versions which are foam filled and the McDermott 'i'-shaft has 3 in that
series that are hollow from end to end, no foam filling but they do use a carbon-fiber tube.
The principle in all of these shafts is the same: lowering front-end mass.
There are many ways for el gato to lose his coating.

Oh, OK, back to the ferrules briefly. OB Cues has a pretty classy wood-construction ferrule
that in theory should be quite effective. Lower mass & added strength in one. A+ Royce.
My guess would be that it's patent-protected or at least should be.
