Predator learning curve -advice please

Set up an object ball about 2 feet from a corner pocket. Set up the cue ball about 2 feet away from the object ball, so that you have a cut shot. Now shoot the shot 5 times at a slow to medium speed with a small amount of inside English, and 5 times with outside English. Then shoot 5 times with a hard hit with inside, and 5 hard hits with outside. Do this at about a 20 degree cut angle, then a 45 degree cut angle, then a 65 degree cut angle. Do these shots every day for 2-3 months and you will be tremendously improved.

Good post. I guess you should vary it, but how close to the rail are putting the OB in these shots?

PKM,
The rail doesn't matter. The point is to get the object ball far enough away from the pocket to make sure precision is required to pocket it; and the cue ball close enough that the shot should be made 100% of the time if you were NOT going to use the side English.

Make sure to give equal time in each session to right-hand and left-hand cuts. Eye dominance issues sometimes make them seem quite different.

Gotcha, thanks. I was thinking you should learn how the English affects position, but I guess you shouldn't do too much at once.

PKM,
A wise man once told me, "position don't matter if you don't pocket the freaking object ball."

If the originator of this thread is having trouble pocketing center ball hits, or is having trouble with position off object balls made with side English, then those are NOT problems related to his cue (and not germane to this thread).

Grady Mathews has a system of "click adjustments" similar to what I describe above which works GREAT for me; but would take me too long to describe (anyone who masters the above system could then take Grady's system and incorporate it easily and quickly with great benefit).
