I want to order a predator partial to have a cue maker match the shaft to the ringwork on the cue. Question is.....is the logo a sticker that is put on before clear coating the shaft?

Yes. When partials are purchased a decal comes along with it which the mechanic can install after the shaft is turned and sanded to fit. The new decals are a little easier to put on than the old ones were. I used to have great trouble getting the decals to release from the paper and stick to the shaft.

Thanks for the response. I'm learning so much.

Out of curiosity why do you want the Predator shaft to have a decal if you are having rings done to match your cue? I am ordering a partial and the guy who made my cue is doing the rings but I plan to leave the decal off. Just wondering.

It's a marketing thing. At one time I think predator was saying the warranty would be contingent upon the shafts getting the logos. I'm not sure if that is still true.

Yes, it's still true. No logo, no warranty.

I could see if you bought a regular run of the mill shaft from pred and had the decal removed but if you order a partial to match rings they should still honor the warranty without logo. It's just business bs for companies as usual I guess.

Never said I wanted the logo on there. Just wondered if it came inlayed in the shaft or was just a sticker. I was origionally gonna leave it off when I have the shaft made but in new light of the warranty bs if its missing I think I will have him put it on there. What is even more bs is if you have to send the shaft back for a defect and they replace it, they aren't going to reimburse you for the cost of the ringwork. Grrrrrrr.

I am also debating the OB-1. Thinking of getting them both and keeping the one I like the most. Thanks for your input....RBC are you the maker of the OB-1? Or affiliated somehow?

He is actually the maker... great customer service!!

I've done many partials both Predator and OB-1, I prefer the OB-1s personally. Royce is a great person to deal with, the shafts are excellent.
His business is still small enough to give personal attention to any issues that might arise. Exactly why I like dealing with smaller businesses.
