Is this a payout problem? I've never seen a Predator Payout list. I don't think one exists.
Something seems odd that there are events not being attended. I wonder what the deal is?

The below was a facebook post.

Wow they postponed the Canada open because there weren’t enough entries.

The Predator Canada Open is just three weeks away. The WPBA-sanctioned Women’s event has a $75,000 prize fund and will be streamed live on World Billiard TV YouTube Channel and Billiard TV.
Registrations for the Open division of the event have not reached the number required to create the high level of event and prize fund we expect to deliver. We have therefore decided to postpone the Canada Open, Open division. All registered players have been contacted.
The WPBA-sanctioned Predator Canada Women's Open and the CSI Leagues Western Canadian Championships are shaping up to be fantastic events and will take place as scheduled.

I'm sure there were a multitude of factors and do not expect them to ever be disclosed.

Also, don't fool yourself, Predator is not opposed to spending some money for pool's sake and its (hopefully) own long term benefit.

Maybe nobody trusted the Predator tables? Probably not , it's more than likely not carring for the format and the Matchtoom events being more important.

Maybe they didn't want to be in a Country that has such and idiot of a PM.

There is a payout table, and it doesn't look very good, to me. Unless you finish 8th or better, you may not even cover your expenses. Finish below 24th, and you are in way over your head. Not worth the effort, IMO.

Just to add........I know the title of the thread says "men's", but the flyer you posted says "women's".

Predator couldn't fill the field... Pros don't like the format and the European Open is a few days before this. Plus Matchroom points are more important for the players.
As much as I'm a supporter of what MR and Predator are trying to build and funds that they are spending...no truer works no truer words have been spoken. The format needs adjustment.

It what I found posted on Facebook. I did not create it. The womens event is still on.

Thank you for posting the payout. Entry $400, travel $700, hotel and food $400 to 600 if you split a room. = $1500 total depending on where you fly from. Event seems to close to Matchrooms events. Are their payouts any better?

I remember the Michigan Open last year didn’t seem to have a super amazing turnout. I thought a combination of some pros being anti-Predator, maybe the shootout format, and perhaps too many high-tier international players weirding away the local shortstops. Those events just don’t have the same excitement and production as a Matchroom event. So I don’t think as many people were eager to donate just for the experience.

I dunno, I'm wondering if it's a Canada thing. They are much stricter about covid for those who aren't vaccinated.
Hardly... The rules are no different for non-residents of the USofA trying to enter when not vaccinated.

Reality is that although Canada's landmass is largely uninhabited. Predator picked one of the worst spots to hold what should have been a major event.

The West coast is primarily a BB region, so staying in any part of it may not have yelded any better results. Toronto, Niagara Falls, or Montreal, would have sold the event out without question.

lol ... Red Deer (about the size of Green Bay) is an hour drive to a city of 1M people to the north (larger than Austin Tx or Denver) , and a 1 hour drive to a city of 1.3M people (about the size of Dallas Tx) to the south ... not exactly "uninhabited".
