I am thinking about getting a new ssaft for my lacsa cue I have shot with a predator a good bit shot some with a ob for a short while realy like it wondering what is most players in put thanks

I prefer the predator shaft. I have shot with the 314 for about 5 years and love it. I tried the OB shaft for a couple of days but hits to soft for me. I just ordered a Predator Z shaft but it arrived warped so I have to wait another week or so until I can give a good opinion it.

I have used a predator for over 10 years. I have never tried an OB1... I have tried the universal smart shaft and thought it hit very good... I'm a bit partial to the predator as from what I know they was the first out there with the LD shafts then along comes everyone else replicating & "making better" so say. All in all I would say it up to the individual's preference.

I seriously think 8 out of 10 people on this board will tell you predator for the simple reason that pred's been in the game longer, and it was the first they used. Truth is you need to shoot with both and decide for yourself.

In the end it doesn't really matter either. Your game will depend on your shooting and consistency, not the shaft.

Both companies stand by their product, Royce (and Jon I think...) from OB-C post here, and are always willing to help their customers. A bit more communicative than predator.

Not to make you decision harder or more confusing, But I've shot with both of those and I would personally go with a TigerX Shaft.

If your choice is limited between Predator and OB-1, I would go with the Predator. The OB-1 is a little too soft for me.

I tried the OB2 shaft at the DCC, and liked it alot. I wasn't sure if I'd like the smaller tipsize (mine is 12.8mm), but it didn't seem to take any adjusting at all!! I have personally never liked the DONK! of the 314 shafts. I must be in the minority since most seem to feel the OB shafts feel too soft? Usually soft = whippy when talking about shafts, and the OB2 definitely wasn't whippy, but it didn't have the DONK! sound either...which to me was a PLUS!! I think you're gonna have to try 'em since one person's idea of a great hitting cue/shaft may not mesh with anothers.

Seriously, no offense to the author of this thread, but moderators need to sticky this topic of LD shafts.

Do a search.

This topic has been discussed ad nauseum.

No offense intended to you Impact but there may be new users here that don't realise that.

shaft

Predator vs. OB is about the same as the Chevy vs. Ford battle. They're both good shafts but, to me, the 'hit' is not the same at all. You're best bet is to find someone local guys that will let you test hit with them so you can see what you like. You may just end up liking the TigerX or who knows.. none of the LD shafts at all! Strickland can't stand LD shafts and he seems to play pretty well. Some other guy named Mosconi did ok with a regular shaft as well.

Seriously though, it's trial and error. Much like finding a tip that you prefer or heck, even a cue you prefer. If you're in the SF Bay area I can definitely get a selection of shafts for you to try out. Hope this helps. Best of luck with your search.
