Hi fam,
I am new to the forum, recently thinking of getting a new cue and closing down to P2 and P3 due to my current cue is 5K seri and I love it.

I've done some homework and know the tech differences but never had a chance to try them out...anyone have tried both??? How do they feel like?

Beside, anything else good beside P2,P3 by Predator ? I heard that cue made by the same company pretty much the same doesn't matter the price range!

Thanks!

Some say that the P2 butt is smaller in diameter. The P3 is slighly thicker. I am unsure if the P2 can have weight adjustments like the P3 can with the weight cartridge change when you unscrew the bottom cap.

I own a P3 and.... I just know that I can run with it (once in a while) in a game of 8 ball.

I've been searching much like you have on which butt is "performance". The P3 is one of the so called performance butts that is suppose to help you in your game compared to any regular butt that doesn't do much other than hold the shaft in place and grip better.

Personally I don't know the difference. The only other cue make is Lucasi which claims to "dampen" the hit by 20+%. I believe Predator and Lucasi come out of the same factory from what I have dug up (quote me if I'm wrong).

In the end from what I'm hearing, the butt doesn't matter much. Why? If in the end a pool player decides to slap on an OB/Predator/Tiger shaft, use whatever cue butt you want.

Reading your post makes me even more confuse...I've read some said that P2 is much better and some say only tip and shaft are matter.... Cue butt only around 15 to 20% depends on weight, grips etc...
Even though I am leaning to a P3 but still want to get more thoughts on this.
Thanks!

Well, I have had both... So, well... First of all balance of the cue is how you tweak it. P2 doesn't have that weight catridge system, sure, but it still can be modified using weight bolts that don't require you to buy a specific predator set.
As for construction, well, I'm leaning to towards saying that the p3 butt is a tad stiffer, like or dislike, that personal. It's also a different manufacturing process. The p3 has more laminations in the butt, probably the reason why it's stiffer.
And well, both cues have uni-loc and accomodate for the same range of shafts. So on the front end, nothing got changed. It's all about the feeling of the butt, the updated design.
But if I say the p2 is better, that's because I personally found it a little bit nicer to play with but I'm sure lots of people with say that about the p3. So if you're doubting between those 2... p2 is offered at reduced prices. So you might get better deals on them. If money's no object, you can try them both out somewhere and decide which is best to buy.

The P-2 butt is 10 piece construction just like the shaft...
The P-3 is 3 pieces of wood overlayed on each other...So under butt of cue is a smaller butt and under that a smaller butt...
The P-2 was voted the best cue Predator ever produced...I had a P-2 Black and was sorry I ever got rid of it...Maybe the best cue I ever played with...
P-2 also had the 314...P-3 has newer 314-2....
Hard to find a P-2 out there...Really hard...
