Predator Shaft/Giuseppe Case - A Day of Disapointment

I hardly ever post on here, mostly just read, but I really am in need of help. I received a lucasi cue (LE-40) as a gift about 6 months ago. I finally decided to buy a Predator Z shaft for it as well as Giuseppe Case for it about 2 and half weeks ago. I have been very happy with both until today. I brought the cue with me as I always have (locked in a bag) in the Giuseppe Case. About 10AM I took it out as usual and played for about an hour, then had to go to class, and came back around noon to play for about 30 minutes. I took out the case, then the butt, and reached in for the shaft. I pulled it up about 1/3 of the way at which point it got stuck on something that was inside the tube of which was holding the shaft (the 240 dollar shaft to be exact). I managed to get it up about 1/2 way out, and eventually it was pulled all the way with a lot of force. Clearly something was in the tube that should not have been. Well, now I am left with a 400+ dollar cue (this is A LOT of money for me) that has severe scratches on the lower end of the shaft (starting from the joint going up about 4-5 inches). I am so disapointed right now, and am looking for any suggestions about how this could be fixed? I have attached pictures as well. From what I have described, do you think there could be a manufacturer deffect in the case? I have looked down in the tube with a flashlight and it doesn't appear to be anything that could of caused this. Has anyone else had something similar happen to them? You might try to get in contact with www.proficientbilliards.com. I've read they do very good repair work and if you send them pictures they can give you an estimate as to how much it would cost, or if it's repairable.
 
Proficient does great work or you can send it to me. Where are you located. There might be someone close to you.

Is it a brand new case or did you buy it used?
Do you put the shaft in tip first, or joint first? Those pics almost look like elongated dents. Empty the case then turn it upside down. Some people use marbles as a tube fillers. I am thinking if the shaft was joint down, then a marble got wedged down in after it. then by pulling it up a rolling compression type action could have occurred. From the pics you posted, it does not appear to be scraped, only dented. It is one of the oddest things I have seen though.

I am also quite baffled. I always have put the shaft in joint first. This always made it easier getting the shaft out of the tube. I never have used marbles in my case though.

As for the case, I purchased it brand new from Seyberts about two and a half weeks ago. I talked to them on the phone, and they were not much help except for them saying that I should just send it back to them to see if they can fix it (at my cost).

I have contacted Proficient Billiards, and they have given me a quote of around 50 dollars which seems reasonable. But I guess I should check to see if there is some sort of warranty on the case if there is a defect.

And to Michael Webb: What would the cost be for you to fix this up for me? Thanks...

The end of the shaft needs to be refinished that's for sure. My price would be about the same as Proficients. Either way it would be done correctly.
 
Those are some mean gouges. Feel for you. I would be sick if that happened to any of my cues. Hope things work out for you. I just can't imagine anything like that happening from a case.
 
The only possible thing I could think of is this:

About two weeks ago, someone attempted to steal my case (and the cues inside) and they ended up ripping off the zipper but not doing anymore damage. So now the top of the case does not have any way being secured shut. The bag I was carrying my cue case in (which was holding the predator shaft) *might* of had very few white plastic BBs floating around in it (the BBs are from a hobby I used to be involved in). So, what I am thinking is that possibly one of the BBs managed its way down into the tube (a smart BB as it decided the hole with the most expensive part) and then, when I went to take the shaft out, maybe that BB caused the dents in the shaft. Tommorow morning I am going see if the 6mm BB matches up with the dents in the shaft. I would be really disapointed with myself is this is the case, and I certainly would feel like an idiot. Will keep you all posted.
 
Ok, I actually just got my cue out and put a BB down in the tube with a shaft in it, and it seems this is what caused my problem. I am very disapointed with myself right now...

Atleast I know what happened...


Now, does anyone know how I could go about getting the zipper replaced on this case? The zipper "pull" is the only thing missing. The "Threads" are still perfect.

Are you sure something did not fall into the tube of the case after you placed your shaft in it? If it was a cue case defect, Guiseppe should replace the case and pay for your shaft.

Yes, something did fall in. It is explained in an earlier post.
