Predator Shaft Query

I’ve watched countless videos of tip installs. If no sanding was required, it’s contrary to what we’ve seen and heard.
I did get the specs that I was looking for in a cue that’s been around for around 15-20 years.
When the tip got blown off, I immediately saw 2 things:
- The tip replacement was
botched.
- The ferrule tube did not
look like it had a CF tube.

I’m not guessing any longer.
I wasn't suggesting not to sand, actually just pointed to a video by a widely respected cue maker who shows an install where he swipes it on the sand paper and doesn't sand a bunch and doesn't make sure he's removed the writing.

YES!
FINALLY - Someone knows what they’re talking about.
The cue tech did bring out the cue to show me something that puzzled him. He’d told me that it appeared to be a CF tube that fitted into the ferrule. I did not see it again until he handed back the shaft. I’m surprised too that the ferrule was solid.
I did buy the shaft brand new from Pooldawg. They handled the OB shafts, and were well aware of my concern. The only change that was made was swapping out the stock tip for the Samsera tip.
Seeing the ferrule like that has me shocked.
I was very surprised at the capped ferrule

I was very surprised at the capped ferrule
I partially resolved the matter, after speaking with the cue tech and his manager.
The ferrule appearing to be white, was actually the silencer pad covering the top. That’s normal, except that I’d rather not have it that color.
We all got on the Predator, and their rep explained that there were a couple of one off variations to the BKII shaft. He told us that in addition to the silencer pad, there was a CF vault plate that affixed to the inner core of that shaft. It’s the same tech that’s used in the Revo, but not as pronounced in the BK non CF shafts.
We finally agreed that the shaft was supposed to have that configuration, and it was left to determine accountability for it contributing to the tip failure.
Immediately I was told that I’d consented to the “warranty breech.” We’d already agreed that the repair was botched, and that the glue surface not being sanded was the cause for the tip failure. I then explained that I’d been asked whether I wanted to remove the now known vault plate. I told him that the cue tech’s judgment was flawed in asking me for help when he had access to help from Predator. Instead of seeking a second opinion, he asked me if I wanted to hack off that unknown piece. It was my choice he said. To which I implied “it was not an informed decision based on knowledge.”
So they’re going to take the silencer cap off, prep the surface correctly, and install a new CF cap, silencer pad, and a new Samsera tip. The likelihood of the tip flying off is still there, but we all took a look at the situation, and decided that there could have been a better outcome.
Thanks to everyone who answered and contributed. And to the one or two of you who thought that this was like any typical fix, you are “undone.”

Bare minimum sanding to insure flatness is all that is needed. Excessive sanding can cause issues.
I’d had the same brand tip on that shaft for years. It had to come off at some time. Just get some Locktite next time, and don’t ever put a tip on that hasn’t been touched.
Look at the pictures again.

Bare minimum means ensure it's flat, not untouched. Seems like you're kind of pissing on people that are trying to be helpful.
No Sir -
I’m good with the help that was given. We got through to what mattered. The cue tech was sloppy and had the resources. He did not need my input in order to do his job. It’s ridiculous asking me whether I wanted to cut my arm off.
To me it’s poor service, and the thread comments concur.

I put this nimrod on perma ignore. He comes on here asking for help and then gets all pissy when the answers didn't fit his script. Couldn't care less what happens to his cue.

Sir - You’re a respected contributor. I will not offend or be offended by static.
I found the person who could clear this up. I’m not appreciative of your opinion if you’re going to be critical and judgemental.

Let this be the last word, and consider the matter closed.

Is that a white pad? You can definitely see a glue line and the color is somewhat different than the ferrule. Brian.
