Predator Shaft Question

Ok so i searched for this qestion and couldnt find the answer anywhere so here i go

If i want a 314 2 shaft to go on a 3/8-10 pin. Does the shaft just get drilled and tapped like any regular shaft. have seen pictures of other predator shaft that are drilled out and a black insert is used and then tapped into the insert?

As far as I know, the partials dont come with the phenolic insert installed, could be totally wrong though, I have never bought one

i have ordered them before and they do not come with the insert already installed but it was also for a brass insert so it didnt even matter. I was just wondering if people always use th insert or can you tap straight into the wood

Whatever way makes you happy. Directly into wood is fine.

By all means, you can tap directly into the wood.
The phenolic insert is not required though done correrctly, it does have it's advantages.
I'm going to recommend a phenolic deco-ring though. I know I'll sleep better.
