Hi guys I would like to know if the type of screw affects the way a pedator performs. Will the shaft work the same on a custom cue with a 5/16th, 3/8th, or a radial screw or if you want to try one should you buy a complete predator cue. Take care guys and thanks for your knowledge.

You can buy just a 314 shaft, without buying an entire cue.

Good luck!

You can do that.
Pred shafts collar is around .840-.842".
Some cues have larger collars, some have smaller ones too.
If you're ordering a custom cue, might as well have the maker custom fit that shaft too with the matching rings.

Rick, I have 3 Predator cues; I love the shafts for performance, but the butts have a lot to be desired. Two of the 3, I had to have refinished from poor workmanship not abuse. I personally would advise a Predator shaft for your favorite butt.I presently am looking @ a SchonSTL18 for use with my Pred. shaft. I hope I have helped. Best of Rolls, Kennyratt

From what I understand, Falcon cues makes the "decorative" butts that have the points, inlays, etc. The only cue that is made totally by Predator is the new P2 and I haven't heard any complaints about that cue. There is a discussion forum on www.seyberts.com that has a section dedicated to prdeator equipment. A dealer rep frequents the site and is very good about answering questions pertaining to predator products.

i can tell you from my direct experience that a pred shaft on meucci cue with a 5/16-18 joint plays much differently that a a pred shaft on a 5/16-14 piloted joint cue. just my experience.

I have played with a predator shaft on my Scruggs custom cue with a cocobolo joint, on a predator sneaky pete butt with a SS joint, on a predator all black butt with a SS joint (I think the 2k1), and just recently I switched to the Z shaft on the predator break cue butt. Each combination was at least for one year, except for the last which I just switched to a couple of months ago.

In my non-expert opinion, the deflection characteristics of each of these combinations was about the same. I didn't have to make any adjustments when I made all of these switches, except a slight one for the Z shaft (all the others were 314 shafts). The hardness of the hit might have been a bit different with each cue, but you can probably make that feel anyway you wish by switching tips.
